A pair of Hampton Inn & Suites sites in the Carolinas, USA, is to receive a comprehensive facelift after changing hands.

Charlotte-based Maya Hotels acquired Hampton Inn & Suites Charlotte-Arrowood Road, North Carolina and Hampton Inn Columbia Northeast-Fort Jackson, South Carolina and will both manage and renovate them.

Current offering

The two Hilton Worldwide sites collectively boast a total of 210 guestrooms, with the Charlotte property housing 100 keys, while the Fort Jackson site has 110. The rooms and suites feature microwaves and refrigerators.

Each hotel offers an outdoor pool, a 24/7 marketplace with snacks and beverages, complimentary Wi-Fi, a free hot breakfast, a fitness centre, meeting spaces, and a 24/7 business centre.

Multi-million plans

Parimal Thakor, vice president of Maya Hotels, said: “These two hotels are long-term staples within their communities, with great proximity to major attractions, corporate offices, and government business.

“We are thrilled to significantly upgrade both of these assets with multi-million-dollar capital improvement plans, which will position these hotels to become leading performers in their respective markets.”

Quick adaptation

JD Deva, CEO of Maya Hotels, remarked: “We are so happy to continue growing our relationships with the Charlotte and Columbia communities, as well as with Hilton. We are also thankful to each of our investors and banking partners.

“The success of this transaction is a testament to our track record in the hospitality industry and our ability to adapt quickly in a rapidly changing lending environment. We look forward to bringing out the full potential of each of these properties with our hands-on management approach and the completion of major renovations at each property.”

Deal in context

The acquired hotels complement Maya Hotels’ existing footprint and will increase the current operating synergies the company has across North and South Carolina. Furthermore, the transaction marks Maya Hotels’ second and third acquisitions over the last six months, with the company also acquiring Avid Hotel Fort Mill, SC in the second half of 2022.

The addition of the two Hampton Inns brings the total number of hotels in Maya Hotels’ portfolio to 10, including four Hilton properties. Other US Hampton Inn & Suites sites currently under refurbishment for Hilton include: the 88-key Hampton Inn & Suites Athens I-65/Huntsville Area in Alabama; the 81-room Hampton Inn & Suites Paso Robles in California, which will complete in Q1 2024; and the 80-key Hampton Inn Canton, with renovations due to finish in Q1 2025.
