Travelodge in Australia’s Northern Territory gets design overhaul

Darwin’s Travelodge Resort has unveiled a smart new look following a multimillion-dollar makeover.

A Travelodge hotel in the capital of Australia’s Northern Territory is set for a whole new lease of life after undergoing a major revamp. We find out more.

A slice of paradise in central Darwin

Darwin was the only Australian metropolis to make it onto Tripadvisor’s Top 25 Emerging Destinations for 2020. Buoyed by the city’s growing reputation, this Travelodge property has undergone an extensive overhaul, courtesy of a $3.7 million Wet Season refurbishment programme.

The resort comprises 168 guest rooms and 32 self-contained townhouses, all of which were stripped back to their bare essentials to act as a blank canvas for the fresh new look that has been superimposed onto them.

Changes and improvements

The guest accommodation now benefits from luxurious new TFE Dreamcatcher beds and fully connected TVs and broadband, as well as newly fitted kitchens and appliances in the townhouses. And business travellers can avail themselves of the upgraded corporate facilities, which include five flexible conference and meeting rooms, while the onsite restaurant is ready to welcome discerning 21st-century customers.

“This refurbishment programme provided the opportunity to support the local business community locally sourcing goods and equipment, and by using local trades and labour,” said Sid Bhatia, TFE Hotels’ cluster general manager for Darwin. “Importantly, we also donated furnishings, fixtures, white goods and TVs to help benefit local community groups, and recycled where possible.”
