The next TOPHOTELWORLDTOUR event will shortly be upon us, and this time round we’re heading back to New York City for a full day of networking, presentations and fun. We take a look inside what’s in store at the latest installment of this now-legendary event.

World Tour in New York

Get ready to hit the Big Apple at the TOPHOTELWORLDTOUR in New York’s Marriott Marquis hotel on November 13th this year. As always, attendees with partake in a day-long conference and networking event, where they will get the chance to exchange contact details and information with every other delegate at the many Change Table sessions that are peppered throughout the morning and afternoon. This time around, there are some familiar expert speakers at hand to give keynote presentations, including TOPHOTELPROJECTS’ very own Rolf W. Schmidt, as well as Christopher Barrat from Greystone Consulting and John Fareed from Horwath HTL.

Panel Discussion

One of the highlights of the World Tour events is always the panel discussion, a lively and engaging portion of the day where one of the key topics that is on people’s lips is explored and debated. This time the issue being addressed will be “Rot in the Big Apple? Dark side of New York’s hotel industry”, and a panel of industry professionals will dive deep into the topic about how, even though New York’s hotel industry is booming, “despite average New York room occupancy rates at 85 percent, operators have faced pressure on room rates and experienced declines in revenues. Furthermore, beloved old stores, cafes and even homes are being redeveloped to make way for buildings that house short-stay guests who neither live nor work in New York.”

Creative Spark

No TOPHOTELWORLDTOUR would be complete without the famous Creative Spark portion of the day, which pits three innovative hotel designs against each other to battle out for the glory of winning. In November, the competitors will be the Sheraton Brooklyn, a 321 key property whose renovation is set to be complete by February 2019, the AC Hotel Seaport, a hotel at the junction of the Financial and Seaport districts that will respond to it its waterside location, and the NY Exchange, a mini boutique hotel to be located in a 57-floor Art Deco building in Manhattan’s financial district. Make sure and get your tickets before it sells out so you can be one of the first to know who wins the Creative Spark.
