Choice Hotels has 741 new-construction projects in its domestic US pipeline, and 94 projects with 26,571 rooms in their international pipeline as of Q3 2019.

We take a deep dive into the world of Choice Hotels by checking out the figures and stats of their pipeline and development chain, pulled from the TOPHOTELCONSTRUCTION database.

Choice’s focus on domestic US market

Numbers drawn from the extensive TOPHOTELPROJECTS database show that Choice Hotels is taking big strides, especially in its domestic US market.

Its new-construction US pipeline totaled 741 hotels as of September 30, 2019. The company’s total domestic pipeline awaiting conversion, under construction, or approved for development increased to 975 hotels and 82,390 rooms in the same period.

The group currently has 94 projects and 26,571 rooms in their international pipeline as of Q3 2019. A total of 66 hotel projects will be located in North America (excluding Choice’s domestic U.S. market). This includes 39 projects in Mexico (14,091 rooms) followed by 27 projects in Canada (2,078 rooms).

Elsewhere around the world, Europe (12 openings), South America (3 openings) and Asia Pacific (7 openings) will all see new Choice properties opening in the coming years.

Notable projects and brands

Choice Hotels has been rapidly expanding their Cambria brand, and the figures returned from the TOPHOTELPROJECTS database confirms this. In the US, there are nearly 80 planned Cambria Hotels, while upper-midscale brand Comfort will see over 300 projects come to fruition, and the Ascend Collection will welcome about 90.

The largest project in Choice Hotels’ pipeline is the recently-opened Cambria Hotel and Suites Anaheim Resort Area. Boasting 350 rooms in the Californian area of Anaheim in Orange County, this property will facilitate visitors going to the Anaheim Convention Centre or to Disneyland. The property will feature a California-themed pool area, an outdoor movie theatre, conference and meeting facilities and a spa and wellness centre.

Cambria has some other prominent projects in the works, namely the Cambria Hotel Austin East Avenue, a 212-key 4-star property in Austin, Texas, the Cambria Hotel Santa Clara, a 190-key hotel in California due to open in the first quarter of 2021, and the Cambria Hotel Bloomington Mall of America, a 170-key airport hotel located close to the Minneapolis-Saint Paul Airport.

Choice Hotels International is one of the largest and most successful lodging companies in the world.
