Noteworthy hotel projects in Switzerland

Both the largest and one of the most noteworthy hotel projects is the rebranding of Geneva’s legendary Kempinski Hotel to the Fairmont Grand Hotel Geneva. After spending decades under the Kempinski umbrella, this property has become an institution on the shores of Lake Geneva and will soon be under new management. To give the property a fresh start, extensive refurbishment of the rooms, restaurants and public areas are being undertaken before the relaunch in 2021.

From 2022, the Florens Lake Resort & Spa will welcome guests to 155 holiday apartments with 1 to 4 bedrooms on the shores of Lake Brienz. There are no hotel rooms planned in the resort. The property is great for guests wishing to spend time in nature, be it skiing in winter or hiking the surrounding mountains in the warmer months.

Slated to open in early 2023, the 115-room Alila La Gruyère will be in the Canton of Fribourg which is known for its landscape, medieval town and cheese and chocolate factories. Situated on a golf resort, the luxury property will focus on recreation and wellness. With its unique location surrounded by nature, the resort will allow guests to relax, recharge and re-energize, while taking in the view across Lake Gruyère. Visitors will be able to indulge in fine dining featuring regional and seasonal produce to fully immerse themselves in the authenticity of the local area.

Overlooking the enchanting village of Grimentz, the 79-room Hotel Inalp & Spa enjoys an exceptional location, offering panoramic views of the surrounding peaks, 3 minutes from the village centre. Its spa and its contemporary look that combines elegantly with the traditional charm of the neighbouring chalets, offer a warm, sophisticated and comfortable alpine living environment combining luxury and authenticity. From early 2021, guests will be welcomed in this property to enjoy regional organic products, open spaces and a break from the urban bustle.
