Wyndham places big bets on Asia Pacific with a large number of its new projects set to open in some of the region’s strongest emerging markets, TOPHOTELCONSTRUCTION data shows.

We deep dive into the world of Wyndham, one of the world’s biggest hotel groups, by checking out the figures and stats of their pipeline and development chain, pulled from the TOPHOTELCONSTRUCTION database.

Wyndham bets on Asia

Numbers drawn from the extensive TOPHOTELCONSTRUCTION database show that Wyndham Hotels and Resorts, the international hotel and resort chain, are taking big strides in Asia.

The group currently has 87 projects in the Asia Pacific pipeline, which will bring an additional 21,314 rooms to their portfolio. Asia’s hospitality industry continues to go from strength to strength, so it is perhaps no surprise that this is the region Wyndham is choosing to invest most heavily into.

Their South American pipeline is the healthiest after Asia but considering that they only have 23 projects with 4,027 rooms in the works in South America, shows how invested the group is in Asia Pacific.

There are a total of 157 projects in their international pipeline, with every development residing in either the 4- or 5-star category, so Wyndham is still positioning themselves in the upscale and luxury segments.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, China is the country with the most projects underway for the group, with this region’s share at 35 projects, followed by India with 16 and Argentina with 13.

The most popular brands being developed by Wyndham are Ramada Worldwide (47), Wyndham Hotels & Resorts (33), Howard Johnson (23), Wyndham Grand Hotels & Resorts (12) and Wyndham Garden Hotels (9).

Notable projects in the Wyndham pipeline

There are several particularly interesting projects in the mix for Wyndham. The Wyndham Resort Beau Rivage Nha Trang is a 5-star new build in Vietnam. The 1,079-key property is set to open in the second quarter of 2021 and will be part of a beachfront mixed-use development that will be comprised of two 50-storey towers housing guest rooms and condos.

The Wyndham Soleil Danang, also in Vietnam, is currently under construction with an opening date in early 2020. This four-tower complex occupies an enviable location right on the beach overlooking the East Sea and will house one hotel and three apartment buildings. The 5-star hotel will boast 779 rooms, and provides easy access to the city’s biggest highlights and activities.

The Comwell Copenhagen Portside, Dolce by Wyndham will be in the Danish capital’s biggest dockland development right next to a metro station and close to prominent administration buildings. Ideal for both business and leisure travellers, the 484-key hotel will also benefit from 18 meeting and events spaces. It is due to open at the beginning of 2021.

Finally, the Wyndham Garden Phu Quoc is a 4-star property currently under construction and set to open in the third quarter of 2020. The resort will be made up of 150 villas on the Vietnamese coast, and will have a heavy focus on sustainability and eco-tourism.
