IHG Hotels & Resorts expands portfolio with first Ruby Hotels signings since acquisition

IHG Hotels & Resorts has announced the signing of its first Ruby Hotels properties since acquiring the brand in February 2025. Ruby Hotel Berlin and Ruby Hotel Copenhagen are set to bring the brand’s signature “lean luxury” philosophy to life, offering stylish, soulful design and authentic stories rooted in the cities they call home.

Karin Sheppard, Senior Vice President and Managing Director, Europe, IHG Hotels & Resorts, said, “We have seen widespread positivity and enthusiasm from our owners and investors for Ruby Hotels as they look to develop in the growing urban micro subsegment. These latest signings in Berlin and Copenhagen are strong reinforcements of the brand’s success in strategic city center locations, and we can’t wait to see both hotels bring their style and charm to travelers in these two energetic capitals.”

Set to open in early 2028, the 375-room Ruby Hotel in Berlin is being developed in partnership with real estate investment firm Empira Group. Located in the Ku’damm Eck building on the famous Kurfürstendamm boulevard, this new hotel will offer guests a stylish and modern hospitality experience in one of Berlin’s most iconic districts.

Included in the design is a chic rooftop terrace on the 12th floor with panoramic views of Berlin’s famous shopping and cultural boulevard. Vibrant public spaces, where guests can relax and socialize, will be created on the 3rd floor.

The property is situated in Frederiksberg, one of Copenhagen’s most prestigious districts, known for its rich gastronomy scene, cultural attractions, and independent boutiques.

As of December 31, 2024, Ruby Hotels, established in 2013, operates 20 hotels across major European cities, with 12 more under construction and scheduled to open within the next three years.
