The Ritz-Carlton, Suzhou is located in the Gusu District and marks the brand’s first hotel in Suzhou, China—a city known for its rich cultural heritage and proudly listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
“Suzhou, with its timeless gardens, classical canals, and centuries-old tradition of artistry and craftsmanship, offers an extraordinary setting for The Ritz-Carlton experience,” said Tina Edmundson, President of Luxury at Marriott International. “We are honored to invite guests to immerse themselves in the city’s poetic beauty and rich heritage, reimagined through our refined lens of luxury and legendary service.”
The Ritz-Carlton, Suzhou features 190 spacious guest rooms and suites, including 57 luxurious suites that measure 86 square meters. The largest suite, The Ritz-Carlton Suite, spans 306 square meters and offers an open terrace with panoramic views of Suzhou’s iconic gardens and cityscape.
This new hotel is within a two-kilometer walking distance of cultural gems such as Lingering Garden, Xiyuan Temple, and Shantang Street. Even more, the hotel is right next to the city’s Metro Line and only three kilometers from Suzhou Railway Station. This provides easy access to cities such as Shanghai, Xi’an, and Guangzhou, which is great for both leisure seekers and business travelers.
Cultural-inspired design
Designed by KPF Architects, the hotel’s exterior and interior manage to blend Suzhou’s historic charm with modern luxury. Design aspects such as layered, blue-tile roofs, folding fan screens, and the concept of negative spaces in Chinese paintings are prominently featured throughout the hotel.
The interiors, conceptualized by architect Peter Remedios, pay homage to Suzhou’s classical gardens and storied silk trade. Key design elements include contrasts of black and white tones, intricate lattice windows, and silk-inspired motifs.

Premier activities, amenities, and dining
Guests can participate in various activities, including the signature Ritz Kids program, traditional tea master performances, and a unique local tradition of toasting with Huangjiu, a Chinese rice wine often enjoyed when marking life’s special moments.
Additional facilities include a 128-square-meter, 24-hour fitness center and a 143-square-meter indoor pool. For gatherings, celebrations, or corporate functions, the hotel provides four event spaces, which includes a spacious 508-squre-meter grand ballroom, three multifunctional meeting rooms, and a charming outdoor venue.
The Ritz-Carlton, Suzhou features four restaurants and bars that are a perfect blend of culinary craftsmanship with the region’s vibrant food culture:
- Alkanna Restaurant: All-day dining offering modern bistro fare, including a selection of oven-grilled steaks and international favorites
- Alkanna Bar: Extensive wine selections and a unique cocktail menu featuring herbal-based drinks
- Biao Xia: Chinese restaurant serving Huaiyang cuisine prepared with locally sourced ingredients
- Feng Pan Ting: Chinese tea lounge that showcases Suzhou’s famous tea culture with local delicacies and performances by tea masters.
Nicolas Kassab, General Manager of The Ritz-Carlton, Suzhou, summarizes the hotel’s aim perfectly: “The Ritz-Carlton, Suzhou stands as the crown jewel of the city’s China Central Place, and sets to become a vibrant hub for commerce, culture, and social life.”
