Brought to life by a team that includes Lamming Co, Alliance Development, JWDA, KNA Design and R&R Construction, The Monsaraz San Diego, Tapestry Collection by Hilton is now open.
The first new hotel to launch in Point Loma, San Diego for over a decade, this Tapestry Collection by Hilton property is a celebration of its coastal location.
Making a mark in Point Loma
The Monsaraz San Diego has been developed by Lamming Co in partnership with Alliance Development. Lamming Co also manages the property.
“We developed The Monsaraz with one goal in mind: create a place that enables our guests, their visitors, friends and the community to awaken their senses, be inspired to live in the moment and take time for a luxurious pause – an immersive experience that allows them to try something new, to relax, enjoy and celebrate one another,” said Cameron Lamming, founder of Lamming Co. “We hope The Monsaraz leaves a welcoming legacy for Point Loma and San Diego, a legacy that brings together travellers from around the world and all walks of life in shared experience.”
The nautically inspired scheme also showcases the work of JWDA, KNA Design and R&R Construction.

A new social hub
The hotel houses 92 guestrooms, including three suites, and promises to provide an immersive environment where interiors pair handmade materials and custom-made tiles with mid-century modern furniture and inspiring artwork. Views take in the hills of Point Loma, the bay and the downtown skyline.
A key concept behind the hotel’s design is the story of young lovers meeting in Portugal before going their separate ways with memories of adventure. Reflecting this tale, the hotel’s art-filled hallways lead guests on a journey of their own, inviting them to discover elegant bedrooms accented with a range of blue hues and pops of wood.
The communal spaces here include a 4,000 sq ft open-air courtyard, which boasts a live tree, locally painted mural and plant wall. This purpose-built space will be the setting for fireside cocktails, weekend workouts, music, cooking classes and other activities that foster creativity and connection.
Meanwhile, The Monsaraz San Diego’s third-floor Hideaway provides the setting for cocktails with a view of the San Diego sunset, while the 60-seat Westerly Public House offers coastal cuisine in a space inspired by both Australian and SoCal beach culture.
