Tenuta di Artimino will open this spring as The Meliá Collection’s first Tuscan property.

This new hotel is a part of the former Medici estate, idyllically set amid the hills and vineyards of Italy’s Tuscan countryside.

Tuscan debut

The Meliá Collection, the recently launched brand of Meliá Hotels International, is expanding with the addition of Tuscan hotel, Tenuta di Artimino, which is set to open in April.

This is Meliá Hotels’ ninth property in Italy as it joins the group’s five operating hotels in Rome, Milan and Genoa and 2023-opening pipeline properties: Gran Meliá Cordusio in Milan and the Meliá Siracusa and Meliá Taormina in Sicily.

Located just 20km outside Florence in the hills of Montalbano, Tenuta di Artimino will introduce guests to the region once home to an Etruscan settlement and neighbouring the 1596-built UNESCO designated Villa Medici, also known as the Villa of the One Hundred Chimneys.

The hotel takes over a 17th-century Renaissance building and accompanying collection of lodges in the village of Artimino.

A reflection of its history

This hotel will accommodate guests in 102 rooms, suites, villas and lodges. This accommodation is then joined by a winery, Biagio Pignatta restaurant, La Cantina del Redi restaurant in the village, a swimming pool and spa, as well as gardens and event space.

The hotel is decorated in the Tuscan Renaissance style with terracotta floors, wooden beams and the use of the Tuscan sandstone Pietra Serena. This property will now benefit from renovation and redecoration works that preserve the history while enhancing the overall experience.

Tenuta di Artimino fits in with The Meliá Collection’s focus on luxury properties that have authenticity, a connection to the location and their own personality. Each property in the collection is chosen for its iconic location or historic significance.
