A new hotel from The James Hotels has opened its doors in Manhattan, New York. The James New York NoMad is located on the corner of 29th street and Madison Avenue. We take a look inside this luxury boutique hotel.

New York luxury by The James Hotels

The latest property by The James Hotels is located in a prestigious setting in Manhattan. Housed in a striking Beaux-Arts building that used to be the former Hotel Seville, a landmark property from the 1900’s, the new The James New York – NoMad breathes new life into the old building. The imposing facade with its red and cream bands has been given a modern twist at the entrance, with a sleek black canopy sheltering guests as they enter. The new design of the interiors was handled by New York-based architect Thomas Juul Hansen, who specialises in high-end residential and hospitality projects, and their expert touch can be felt immediately on entering the property. The lobby oozes class and comfort, with plush fabrics such as velvet inviting guests to sink into the furniture, while a warm palette of wood and grey-toned carpets and finishings create a sense of calm.

Old world charm meets modern luxury

The James New York – NoMad is the product of a collaboration with many experts in the hospitality industry. The signature bar was conceived of by industry specialists LDV Hospitality who have made a name for themselves by creating “authentic and unique restaurant and cocktail bar experiences”. In NoMad, this manifests itself in The Seville cocktail bar, a speakeasy-type lounge which harks back to the original era of the hotel building, and the bar area is complemented by the new Scarpetta Italian restaurant concept, which first launched to great success in the Meatpacking District. NoMad also boasts 360 rooms, which include 28 suites and two penthouses. The suites are designed by Juul Hansen as a personal sanctuary, where the choice of fabrics and the layout invoke the residential design experience the firm is known for, making the rooms a luxurious home away from home. The details are stunning, with ornate, hand crafted marble vanities in the bathroom and brass minibars adding to the feeling of luxury. The hotel also boasts a fitness centre and generous meeting spaces. Vera Manoukian, president and chief operating officer at Denihan Hospitality, the owner/operator of The James Hotels brand, says, “The fully opened James New York-NoMad is the ultimate destination for urban explorers seeking a cool and calm experience. At The James, we’re passionate believers that balancing personal wellbeing and total indulgence is the ultimate key to happiness.”
