The European Hotel Design Awards announces its 2016 winners
The European Hotel Design Awards ceremony follows a hectic awards season in autumn 2016. Organised by Mondiale, the awards were announced on the 21st November in the Park Plaza Westminster Bridge London, spanning 13 categories across hotel Architecture and Interior Design.
The JW Marriott Resort and Spa in Venice was the runaway winner, scooping not only awards for Adaptive Re-Use in the Architecture category, but also the Suite award and the coveted European Hotel Design of The Year. Zoku Amsterdam also walked away with two honours, for Bedrooms & Bathrooms, and Lobby, Lounge & Public Areas. Other hotels awarded were located in Milan, Portugal and Budapest as well as airport hotels at London Heathrow and Schiphol Amsterdam. Hilton Schiphol Amsterdam had already won the “Opening of the Year” at another event earlier this month, the European Hospitality awards.
Project entries are judged by a panel of industry experts and peers representing the various disciplines involved in new hotel projects across Europe. The awards honour exceptional achievement in the design, construction and execution of hotels across the continent, acknowledging innovation and ingenuity and celebrating the architects, interior designers, developers and hoteliers who work in collaboration to create exemplary hospitality spaces. The European Hotel Design Awards is sponsored by Grohe, among others.
