After partnering with Cain International, the Oberoi Group will make its first foray into Europe in 2022.

The Oberoi Group will soon celebrate its European debut in a partnership with Cain International.

We find out more about the much-anticipated new project, which aims to bring the group’s famed guest experience to serviced residences in London.

Oberoi expands into Europe

Cain International and Oberoi have signed an agreement for the latter to operate 23 serviced residences in the prestigious Mayfair area of London.

Up till now, Oberoi has made a name for itself in India and the Middle East, where it operates 33 luxury hotels known for their exceptional service and beautiful design. Now Oberoi is expanding into the UK by partnering with Cain, a privately held real estate investment firm with projects across Europe and the United States.

The project promises to fit neatly with Cain’s ever-growing portfolio of luxury hospitality investments in companies such as Six Senses, Waldorf Astoria and Aman Hotels & Residences.

Jonathan Goldstein, chief executive of Cain International, said: “With a reputation for exceptional service and guest experience, Oberoi is widely regarded as one of the very best in the hospitality industry. We are excited to be forging this new partnership that will see one of the world’s most authoritative brands on high-end service coming to Europe, and choosing London as the location for its debut.”

Some industry commentators fear the luxury accommodation market may struggle even after the COVID-19 emergency ends, but reports of major new investments like this one are fuelling hopes that the recovery will be swift. “Despite current circumstances, we remain confident in the role of strong hospitality brands and in the demand for their services once we have emerged from this crisis,” Goldstein added.

London landmark set for exciting new life

Oberoi’s London property will be at 17-22 South Audley Street in Mayfair. The building was constructed in 1845 and later rebuilt by architect Ernest George, the designer of Southwark Bridge.

The 4,500 sq m listed property, which is due to open in 2022, will be remodelled to house 23 exceptional residences, as well as a small restaurant and some retail space.

PRS Oberoi, executive chairman of The Oberoi Group, said: “We are excited to bring The Oberoi brand to London in partnership with Cain International. The iconic building in the heart of Mayfair is a perfect complement to an Oberoi-branded property.

“We look forward to bringing Oberoi’s distinct culture of personalised service and commitment to excellence in serving our guests on their next visit to London.”

The Oberoi Group, founded in 1934, operates 28 hotels and three cruisers in five countries under the luxury ‘Oberoi’ and five-star ‘Trident’ brands.
