In late summer 2021, Paolino Properties plans to launch a new boutique hotel in Providence, The Beatrice, that showcases the design expertise of ZDS Architecture & Interiors.

A dazzling new hotel will occupy the 1887 Exchange Building in downtown Providence, Rhode Island, featuring 47 guestrooms and Ignazio Cipriani’s first Bellini Restaurant and private rooftop Bellini Club in New England.

Local inspiration

The Beatrice is being developed by Joseph R Paolino, Jr, managing partner of Paolino Properties and former mayor of Providence, and takes inspiration from his mother and lifelong Rhode Island resident Beatrice Temkin. Its design aims to reflect her wit and attention to detail.

Sporting a distinctly residential feel, the hotel will provide a sophisticated base for travellers within moments of the city’s key sites.

“I have dedicated my life to making Providence a top destination for people to live and visit,” said Joseph R Paolino, Jr. “The Beatrice represents everything I love about our city – its warm spirit, rich history, creativity and of course, our world-class restaurants.

“Partnering with Ignazio and Maggio Cipriani to bring Bellini to Providence adds a new dimension to the city’s culinary scene that further puts Providence on the map as being home to some of the best restaurants and talent in the country. I look forward to opening our doors and welcoming all to experience hospitality at its very best. I know my mother, Beatrice, would approve.”

A culinary hotspot

Providence is already celebrated for its culinary scene. This opening promises to add something new to the mix, with Cipriani’s Bellini brand introducing a fresh and upscale modern Italian dining experience.

“There is a special magic about Providence, that draws upon my own nostalgia of growing up in Italy, with canals that flow through the downtown, similar to what you would experience in Venice,” said Ignazio Cipriani. “When that feeling is coupled with the charm and creative flair of this special New England community, the joy of conviviality completes the picture.

“Bellini, named after the cocktail created by my great grandfather and now known throughout the world, is a place where visitors and locals alike can truly connect with one another and share simple flavours and I’m excited to introduce this concept to downtown Providence at The Beatrice Hotel.”

Bellini Restaurant will be joined by Bellini Club, a private members’ venue that’s also open to hotel guests. The club will overlook Kennedy Plaza and offer an exclusive Bellini menu along with handcrafted cocktails.

Curating the guest experience

The guest accommodation here provides a stylish retreat with rooms and suites ranging from 300 to 805 sq ft in size. Each room comes with an array of amenities including Nespresso coffee makers, Mascioni linens and towels crafted in Milan, as well as Fit Kits and Bea’s Book Bags.

The Beatrice will also offer contactless check-in, keyless entry and on-demand text request concierge, plus onsite Covid19 rapid testing.

Interiors are being designed by ZDS Architecture & Interiors to enhance the character of the site’s 19th-century roots. One of the most striking elements will be an atrium centred around a grand chandelier, flooding the lobby with natural light.

Paolino Properties has also confirmed that Jennifer Curtin, who has worked at some of the top hotels in the US, will be The Beatrice’s general manager.
