The African continent brims with new hotel investments and developments. For many years, obstacles such as infrastructure and workforce prevented a boom in tourism in the industry. Hotel owners and operators, however, are now making up for lost time.
In fact, according to the TOPHOTELCONSTRUCTION database, the project pipeline for African hotel construction is more robust that it has been in years. Africa has even surpassed Latin America in a list of the world’s most active pipelines. In fact, numbers from the TOPHOTELCONSTRUCTION database currently show that while Africa only has 305 projects in its pipeline compared to Latin America’s 314, Africa is on pace to add 73,528 new rooms while Latin America will only see the addition of 72,065 new rooms.
With that in mind, let’s take a look at some of the hottest upcoming hotel construction projects coming to the African continent:
Marassi is a Mediterranean-styled development close to Alexandria, a few miles away from the historic city of El Alamein, along the shores of Sidi Abdul Rahman Bay. An architectural ode to the rich and diverse Mediterranean way of living, Marassi is destined to be the haven of untold bliss and comforts sprawling 1,544 acres of pristine waterfront.
Chbika, originally known as Chbika Sahara Atlantique, has been master-planned to include three or more hotels, 1,851 apartments and villas, a town center, a marina with berths for 100 boats, a sports center, a spa, a medical center, and what’s been described as a tournament-worthy golf course.Without question, the resort will be the biggest thing to ever hit the village of Chbika, which is located along the Atlantic coast in a remote part of southwestern Morocco, near the town of Tan-Tan.
Expansion of this lush, luxury resort seeks to surpass the existing oasis’s already-high standards. With an added adjoining property, the project includes a ninety-plus key hotel, conference center, employee hotel, manager’s quarters, a Mosque, dive center, and an 18-hole golf course with 52 golf villas. A central lake provides beauty and serenity while also cooling temperatures within the local microclimate. Sinuous walkways guide hotel guests to their doorways through a series of landscaped gardens and terraces, and chalets sit among dense private gardens and pool areas. Perched on the cliffs, two infinity pools appear to float above the shoreline, with nooks carved into the hillsides for private sunbathing.
It is scheduled to open for guests in the third quarter of 2019, and once it does it will have roughly 1,400 available rooms.
A mixed-use development project branded MARRIOTT located in the new development district in Bab Ezzouar in Wilaya of Algiers, this property is currently in the pre-opening phase of construction. It will make its long-awaited debut in June of 2018, and once it does, it will have just more than 1,200 new rooms available for interested guests.
