The sustainable hospitality brand’s UK flagship and first European property, 1 Hotel Mayfair, is now accepting reservations for its July opening.

This new property in the heart of London’s historic Mayfair will provide a sanctuary fusing luxury and sustainability overlooking Green Park.

Entry to London

Hospitality brand 1 Hotels is the nature-inspired luxury lifestyle hotel concept of hospitality visionary Barry Sternlicht. The brand’s UK flagship, and the property marking 1 Hotels’ entry to Europe, 1 Hotel Mayfair will start welcoming guests from July 13, 2023.

The nine-storey property will fuse sustainable and luxury living in design-led space set amid the restaurants, galleries and boutiques of this upscale London neighbourhood. The hotel is designed to bring a breath of fresh air to the area with its love of and respect for nature.

“We are delighted to bring nature and our mission of sustainable luxury to Mayfair, the very heart of London, one of the most important travel markets in the world,” said Barry Sternlicht, 1 Hotels Founder and Chairman of SH Hotels & Resorts.

“We are thrilled to bring our unique fusion of fresh comfort, conscious sustainability, exceptional bespoke service, understated elegance, wellness and nutrition to London.”

SH Hotels & Resorts Chief Executive Officer, Raul Leal, said: “We’ve reimagined the traditional luxury hotel experience for Mayfair by infusing our love for nature with effortless sophistication. With this opening we celebrate our distinctive brand’s entry into Europe and the dynamic and culturally rich city of London.”

Sustainable luxury

The original site now occupied by this hotel was reconstructed as an urban oasis that’s built to BREEAM Excellent standards. The new design utilised and repurposed 80 percent of the existing structure, now featuring living green-trellised exterior walls, to minimise environmental impact. The former parking lot is freshly cobbled to provide a new outdoor public space.

Two new floors have been added to the top of the building and are now occupied by 35 luxury suites with floor-to-ceiling windows and expansive outdoor spaces. These suites include the double-height Green Park Penthouse Suite, which is the largest one-bedroom suite in Mayfair, spanning 274 sq m, or 340 sq m when expanded to include two bedrooms, with highlights including a wrap-around terrace.

Altogether, the hotel has 181 guest rooms, including 44 suites, with exclusively commissioned artworks from nature-influenced local artists at every turn and more than 200 local and regional plant species thriving throughout the property.

Guests and locals will be able to dine at the ground-floor restaurant Dovetale of two Michelin starred chef Tom Sellers. This dining spot showcasing seasonal, organic and locally sourced produce will feature alongside the signature cocktail bar, Dover Yard, and Neighbours Cafe for light snacks and barista-made ethical fair-trade coffee. The hotel will also house The Bamford Wellness Spa.

Overall, the property is endeavouring to fuse the finest natural sources and artisanal products inspired by British heritage with the creativity and contemporary charm of this vibrant area of London.
