Wyndham’s flagship hotel brand opens in the Malaysian town of Klang and brings business and leisure guests a new upscale option.

A new Wyndham operated property has opened in the Royal Town of Klang, half an hour from the Malaysian capital of Kuala Lumpur.

The Wyndham Acmar Klang will become a landmark hotel in Klang and provide accommodation for a wide spectrum of guests visiting the area.

We find out more.

Wyndham Hotels and Resorts debuts in Klang

Wyndham Hotels and Resorts has launched its flagship brand in the Royal Town of Klang, Malaysia. The 488-key property is conveniently located just a 30-minute drive from the country’s capital of Kuala Lumpur and will be a welcome addition to the town, bringing more business and leisure tourism into the area.

“We are thrilled to debut our namesake Wyndham brand in Klang, one of Malaysia’s commercial gateway and economic districts. As the first upscale, international five-star hotel to enter Klang, we want to provide a wider choice to domestic and international guests travelling to Malaysia for business,” said Joon Aun Ooi, President and Managing Director, Wyndham Hotels & Resorts, South East Asia and Pacific Rim.

“With Klang’s connection across three major highways into the city, coupled with its proximity to Port Klang, this town is rife with business opportunities. The amazing growth we’re seeing in Malaysia for our brands is testament to Wyndham’s strength in and commitment to the market, coupled with a rapidly growing economy,” Joon Aun Ooi elaborates.

Wyndham expands in Asia Pacific

Opening this property cements Wyndham’s plans to expand in the Asia Pacific region. Southeast Asia and the Pacific Rim have emerged as the fastest growing region for the group, with a 23% increase in Wyndham’s presence in the area since September 2019.

The group currently operates five hotels and resorts in Malaysia, and no doubt there will be more to come in the future.

Business or pleasure in Klang

While mainly geared towards business travellers, the Wyndham Acmar Klang also appeals to leisure travellers who are in Malaysia for pleasure.

Given Klang’s location at the gateway to three major highways that lead to Kuala Lumpur, guests can visit several tourist destinations, including Tugu Keris, Klang’s Little India District, Central i-City Shopping Mall, Raja Mahadi Fort and i-City Recreational Centre.

The hotel also offers multiple dining options on site, as well as an outdoor swimming pool and a 2,200-person capacity ballroom.

Wyndham is the world’s largest hotel franchising company, with approximately 9,200 hotels across more than 80 countries on six continents.
