Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield is giving Hamburg a whole new neighbourhood with its spectacular Hamburg-Überseequartier which includes 3 hotels.

In cooperation with hotel giant Accor and the real estate developer B&L Group, Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield (URW) is developing three hotels in the Westfield Hamburg-Überseequartier area in Hamburg, Germany.

We find out more about this exciting mixed-use project and which hotels will be launching there by the end of 2022.

Three new hotels in a single project

The Westfield Hamburg-Überseequartier will be a mixed-use development home to three hotels on the shores of the Elbe river. Accor’s Pullman, Novotel and ibis styles brands will bring a total of 830 rooms.

The hotels are spread over three building complexes, each with an individual architectural style and unique characteristics.

In the development’s southern part, the premium brand Pullman will operate 250 rooms in a building designed by French architect Christian de Portzamparc. The space is characterized by its open, light-flooded design and allows a direct view of the Elbe and the future waterfront.

Right behind the Pullman, a 170-room Novotel property is geared towards the upper-middle-class segment.

Just opposite, in the central area of the complex, the 400-room economy brand ibis Styles will open shortly. Its rooms are spread over two buildings designed by Hild and K Architects from Munich and Böge Lindner K2 Architects from Hamburg.

All three hotels will blend seamlessly into the lively urban environment and connect guests directly to F&B venues, retail spaces as well as entertainment and culture offerings.

A daring and unique project idea

The combination of three different hotel brands and a total of 830 rooms makes the Westfield Hamburg-Überseequartier one of Accor’s largest current hotel projects.

The idea was to use the combination of Pullman, Novotel and ibis Styles to offer the possibility to serve different target groups at the same location. For example, larger conferences can be implemented and groups with different profiles can be accommodated. The three brands occupy different segments and appeal equally to business and private travellers.

“The three hotels are of vital importance in our strategic planning to establish the Westfield Hamburg-Überseequartier as a mixed-use destination with national appeal. They underline our desire to create new standards in the areas of hospitality, quality of life and urban atmosphere,” explained Andreas Hohlmann, Managing Director of URW Germany.

“We are very pleased that we have been able to gain strong partners with many years of experience and an excellent reputation in Accor and B&L. This hotel project is one of the most exciting in the European market. Together with our partners, we would like to set new standards internationally,” he added.

“We are extremely proud to work with B&L and URW. The Hamburg hotel market is still exciting for us and the ambitious project with three of our hotel brands underlines our plans for continued expansion in all segments. This affects not only Hamburg but the whole of Germany,” said Yannick Wagner, responsible for the development for the Central Europe region at Accor.

“The Westfield Hamburg-Überseequartier is ideal due to its proximity to the city centre and its mixed-use character. Another plus for us is that we have two strong partners by our side for the implementation of these hotel projects. The cooperation with both partners definitely has a strategic scope for us, and we are working on expanding it further,” he went on to say.
