Space race-inspired hotel set for summer launch

Fresh details have emerged about Valor Hospitality Partners’ plans to open a space race-inspired luxury hotel under the Curio Collection by Hilton flag in Huntsville, Alabama.
The exciting 115-room property, 106 Jefferson, will be rooted in the spirit of downtown Huntsville.
Combining community spirit and history
Constructed on the site of the former Huntsville Hotel, which was popular during the Victorian era, 106 Jefferson will boast a look and feel reminiscent of the space race that famously helped bring the community together. Here, science and technology will be fused with Southern hospitality to reflect both the locals’ grand aspirations and their winning charm when the property opens in summer 2021.
Subtle nods to the site’s history will meet sophisticated design and attention to detail across the hotel’s spacious guestrooms, chef-driven restaurant, rooftop lounge and more than 2,000 sq m of event space.
“We’re thrilled to bring this one-of-a-kind experience to Huntsville,” said Mary Beth Lewis, director of sales and marketing for 106 Jefferson. “With the spirit and history of the community as a foundation, we hope to provide travellers an unforgettable opportunity to experience authentic Huntsville for themselves. We can’t wait to welcome guests and locals this summer.”
Paying homage to Huntsville’s past
The hotel’s restaurant Revivalist will pay homage to the property’s history through its design, with decor that recalls an old-time parlour and an inventive menu influenced by European classics.
Indoor-outdoor rooftop lounge Baker & Able, meanwhile, will serve whimsical cocktails with panoramic city views. The venue takes its name from the space-bound primates that will forever be associated in the public mind with Huntsville.
A variety of functions, ranging from corporate gatherings to weddings, will be hosted in the 2,000 sq ft event space, which includes the fully customisable Century Ballroom.
On top of this, the hotel will house 12 luxurious king suites, a 24-hour fitness centre with dedicated outdoor greenspace, a private dining room, a 24-hour business centre and an upscale gift shop. There’ll also be complimentary wifi and room service, plus valet and self-parking.
The hotel is located just 13 miles away from Huntsville International Airport and within minutes of Oakwood, Alabama A&M and UAH Universities, with easy access to Interstate 565.
