Long established in the USA, Ennismore's SLS brand is poised to launch in Europe with a significant urban resort in Barcelona.

Ennismore has revealed its SLS brand will open the doors to its first European property this coming winter of 2024. SLS Barcelona, with its 471 lavish suites and rooms, will welcome its first guests before the year end.

The group has promised to deliver an urban resort that will be unlike anything Barcelona has seen before. The hotel will sit on a site just metres from the Mediterranean, with its dramatic facade echoing the waves of the sea.

A resort hotel with scale

With a hotel of such scale, there are a broad range of amenities for guests to enjoy, including three pools, chic cabanas, and a spa and wellness centre. For those wanting to hold events, there is a dedicated events lobby leading to flexible private spaces, and a substantial ballroom that enjoys natural light from oversize windows.

The opening comes as SLS increases its pace of openings. Around the same time as the Barcelona hotel opens, SLS Playa Mujeres will also launch, in Cancun. The brand’s first all-inclusive resort, set on Mexico’s Yucatan Peninsula, the 498 room development will offer guests the choice of dining and drinking in 18 different restaurants and bars. A private beach and marina, and three outdoor pools provide daytime relaxation space, while for parents enjoying a break, there are dedicated kids’ zones.

Looking further ahead, SLS will deliver additional pipeline hotels in Cancun and Saudi Arabia. The brand is also venturing into South American markets, with projects signed in Argentina and Uruguay.

And it is in Dubai that Ennismore is making a splash with another of its brands, Rikas. Working alongside fellow Ennismore brand Paris Society, it will be opening five new beach clubs and restaurants around Dubai, helping to turn Rikas into the leading operator of restaurants and beach clubs in the region. By the end of 2024, Rikas will have no less than 23 establishments up and running, providing pleasure seekers staying in Dubai with more choices than ever, when looking for somewhere distinctive and new to dine or drink.

Building f&b brands

The additions include Gigi Rigolatto, a beach house at J1 Beach, and Ninive Beach in the same location; and Maison Revka, with its inviting pool and cabanas at Bluewaters Dubai. And at the Delano Dubai hotel on Bluewaters Island, two new food and beverage-oriented destinations are being added. La Cantine Beach will feature the ambience already enjoyed at the La Cantine at Emirates Towers, but brought to a beach venue with restaurant, bar, beach and pool. The second addition will be Gohan, promising an upscale Japanese dining experience but presented in a beachfront setting. Diners will have the choice of dining indoors, or al fresco should they wish.
