The stunning Loire Valley to be the setting of the upcoming Six Senses resort
The new Loire Valley resort fits Six Senses’ track record of creating exceptional experiences in out-of-the-way locales.
Just a breezy, 90-minute drive from Paris is the Loire Valley, a UNESCO World Heritage region famous for its historic chateaux, medieval towns, fine wine, cuisine and breath-taking landscape.
That property will be developed with a keen eye toward embracing the community values core to Six Senses, creating a resort within the Les Bordes Estates, which is a 1,400-acre site in the Sologne forest.
A heaven of luxury at Six Senses Loire Valley
The Six Senses Loire Valley will have more to offer aside from its stunning location. It is also home to the famous Les Bordes Golf Club, one of the most prestigious on the planet.
That club’s two 18-hole courses will remain private, but hotel guests can plan on a new Gil Hanse-designed par three with a practice facility.
The luxurious property will also feature horse-riding and tennis centres, an organic farm to support its cuisine, an art gallery, a petting zoo, a natural swimming lake with a beach, water sports, biking and walking trails and more activities for families.
President Bernhard Bohnenberger of Six Senses Hotels, Resorts, and Spas had this to say, “We feel really fortunate to be collaborating with RoundShield Partners on a very unique project which will give a new dynamic to this world-famous destination and complement our existing and upcoming resorts in Europe.”
“Six Senses Loire Valley is being designed with our sustainability values at its heart and will appeal to experience seekers, nature lovers and outdoor enthusiasts looking to get up close with this region’s exceptional beauty, culture and history,” Mr Bohnenberger went on to say.
A sneak peek at the Resort
Imagine arriving at a beautifully preserved château which boasts an elegant restaurant and bar, plus event facilities for lawn functions and a garden with sculptures and water features to create an atmosphere for meditation.
This is what new arrivals to the Six Senses Loire Valley will experience when they begin their stay—a luxurious destination where the activities are centred around 13th- and 15th-century priory buildings near a stunning complex on the lake.
The property features 88 generously sized guest suites and villas, with accommodations clustered as enclaves in the wooded landscape, alongside streams and waterways. On the grounds, another 70 residential villas are offered for private ownership.
The Six Senses Spa will also be an integral part of the resort, offering signature specialities with a medicinal garden where plants and herbs will be grown for inclusion in locally inspired treatments and Alchemy Bar workshops. Adjoining this will be the organic kitchen garden and Earth Lab, the centre for guests to learn about the resort’s conservation initiatives.
Driss Benkirane, managing partner of RoundShield Partners LLP, said, “We are delighted to partner with Six Senses to develop a unique hotel and lifestyle offering at Les Bordes. The brand’s ethos of understated luxury, connection with nature and the local environment, personal growth, health and wellness fits perfectly with our vision for the estate. We are developing a community where all family members have myriad activities to pursue on and off-site and are excited to have Six Senses accompany us on this journey.”
