Standard International and Invictus Developments are collaborating on a newbuild hotel scheme near Orchard Road in the heart of Singapore, which is slated to open in 2023.

The Standard, Singapore represents a significant milestone in the rollout of one of the world’s most celebrated hotel brands.

Entering Singapore in style

Continuing The Standard’s expansion into key markets across South-East Asia, this 2023 launch in Singapore will follow on from the November 2021 debut of The Standard, Hua Hin and the 2022 opening of The Standard, Bangkok Mahanahkon.

Amar Lalvani, chief executive officer for Standard International, said: “Singapore is a culturally rich and dynamic city that is ready to embrace the creativity and personality of The Standard. Singapore has emerged into an incredibly important and innovative hub in Asia and we couldn’t be more excited about this development. New hotel licenses in the city are rare and highly coveted and we feel very fortunate to partner with Invictus Developments to bring this project to life.

“Although the global travel dynamics remain challenging at the moment, we continue to build landmark projects around the world in anticipation of a brighter future.”

The creation of a social hub

The Standard, Singapore will become a new social hub for the city, with signature restaurants and nightlife venues, artistic and cultural programming, and an infinity pool and pool bar set within a botanical courtyard. Hotel guests will be accommodated in 143 rooms.

The property will be located on Orange Grove Road, across from Shangri-La Singapore, making it one of the few ground-up hotels to be built near the famous Orchard Road shopping destination. In this sought-after location, it’ll be just a short walk from Singapore Botanic Gardens via the picturesque Nassim neighbourhood.

“We are delighted to bring The Standard into Singapore,” said Chayadi Karim, principal of Invictus Developments. “They are known for pushing boundaries and challenging norms, which reflect our values. Their unconventional and offbeat approach will bring a differentiated experience to the current offerings in the vicinity.”
