KSL Resorts has taken over management of the iconic luxury scheme, a magnet for golf aficionados from around the world, in the heart of California’s Napa Valley wine region.

The hospitality management company will lead day-to-day operations at one of the Golden State’s finest golf destinations.

The start of a new chapter

Silverado Resort and Spa has been a California landmark for more than 150 years. The private estate-turned-contemporary resort houses 449 guestrooms and suites, along with a 16,000 sq ft spa and fitness centre, three dining venues, three pools, ten tennis courts, three bocce ball courts, and as much as 70,000 sq ft of indoor and outdoor event space. Significantly, the site also features two Robert Trent Jones, Jr-designed championship golf courses and is home to the PGA Tour Fortinet Championship.

KSL Resorts has now added the property, which is situated on 300 idyllic acres of land, to its management portfolio.

Ian Pullan, vice president for KSL Resorts, said: “As we continue our strategic growth, we are thrilled to add this storied property to our portfolio. We look forward to working with the local community of Napa Valley and wholeheartedly embrace our role as the new stewards of Silverado Resort and Spa.”

New leadership for the resort

This latest addition to KLS Resorts’ portfolio comes at a time of growth across the hospitality management company’s luxury segment.

“Silverado represents an example of our commitment to iconic resort properties that are at the foundation of our company,” Pullan said. “We will draw upon our 30-year experience of successfully enhancing luxury golf resorts, including Doral Golf Resort & Spa in Miami, La Quinta Resort & Club, PGA West and La Costa Resort & Spa, which are all in California, and most recently, Monarch Beach Resort in Dana Point, California.”

Tying in with this news, Todd Shallan has been named the resort’s managing director. Shallan brings more than 30 years of hospitality experience to the role and most recently served as chief operating officer for the hospitality division of Alterra Mountain Company. Before that, he was general manager of Hotel del Coronado in southern California and Claremont Resort, Club & Spa in Oakland.
