Shortlist for AHEAD Americas awards announced

by | May 23, 2017 | Design

The finalists of the Awards for Hospitality Experience and Design Americas awards have been announced ahead of the prize-giving ceremony on the 28th June 2017. Held at the Perez Art Museum Miami, the AHEAD awardscelebrate the best in design within the hospitality sector, and the awards are held in four different markets – Asia, Americas, Europe and the Middle East. The AHEAD Asia awards were held at the beginning of March 2017, with TOPHOTELNEWS reporting on the winners earlier this year. The Americas event to take place in Miami next month will honour outstanding design and hospitality experience for hotels and resorts within the Americas region.

Industry leaders in the sectors of architecture, interior design, development and operations will convene in Miami to witness the winners of a number of categories across the hospitality industry. Some highlights from the selection of shortlisted designs are as follows:

Bar, Club or Lounge

Tree of Life at Faena Hotel Miami Beach is an outdoor bar with a swimming pool that just screams Miami and all the seaside trappings it brings with it. From candy-striped parasols to seashell covered columns, the Faena bar offers everything you would expect from the decadent hoteliers in terms of both design and service.

Event Spaces

Faena Miami Beach features twice in this category, and no wonder, since its recently opened Faena Forum was designed by revered firm OMA. The futuristic venue played host to last year’s Art Basel art fair, and a string of high profile concerts, including one by Madonna.

Arlo Hotel Nomad and Arlo Hotel Soho’s relaxing yet classic guestrooms are up for a prize. With beds housed in intimate wooden boxes, the cosy setting if offset by floor to ceiling windows framing incredible views of the city.

Bazaar Mar at SLS Brickell, Miami is an homage to all things maritime in both its decor, which features blue and white painted tiles depicting mermen and unicorns, and the incredible seafood served up to customers.
