Shangri-La is expanding in Turkey with a new luxury resort planned for Bodrum, scheduled to open in 2029

Shangri-La Group has officially expanded its footprint in Turkey through a management agreement with United Bodrum Turizm A.Ş. to develop a new luxury resort in Bodrum. This project marks the group’s second property in the country, joining the existing Shangri-La Bosphorus in Istanbul, and signals a strategic growth move within the Mediterranean leisure market.

Resort Features and Location

The planned Shangri-La Bodrum is situated on the northwest end of the Bodrum peninsula in Yalikavak. Located approximately ten minutes from the Yalıkavak Marina and adjacent to The One Bodrum development, the resort is scheduled to open in the first half of 2029.

The property will feature 70 guest rooms and 10 private villas. Designed to capitalize on the region’s natural geography, the resort will offer a private beach and views of the Aegean Sea and the surrounding coastline. This development aligns with Bodrum’s established reputation as an international hub for marinas and year-round coastal hospitality.

Strategic Partnership and Development

The signing ceremony took place at the Island Shangri-La in Hong Kong. Key executives from Shangri-La Group, including Chairman and Group CEO Ms. Hui Kuok, met with representatives from United Bodrum Turizm A.Ş., including Chairman Güngör Çepni.

The partnership aims to leverage Bodrum’s rising status as a global luxury destination. According to Shangri-La Group, the expansion is part of a broader strategy to increase its portfolio of leisure properties across Europe and the Middle East. United Bodrum Turizm A.Ş. noted that the project is intended to establish a new benchmark for hospitality in the region and enhance Bodrum’s international standing.
