Ruby Hotels – known for funky design and cool shared spaces

The opening of the Ruby Hohenzollernring in Cologne in 2020 will be followed by the Ruby Group’s second location in Cologne in 2022, in the creative hotspot, Ehrenfeld.

Ruby Group has big plans for the German city of Cologne where it plans to open two new properties soon.

The first will be the Hohenzollernring in downtown Cologne, which is slated to make its debut in 2020.

This luxurious property will soon be followed by another Ruby Group venture in 2022, a second hotel to be in the center of Cologne’s Ehrenfeld district, a hotspot for creative types and artists.

Ruby Group’s property in Ehrenfeld

Ruby’s Ehrenfeld District property has a lot going for it. Developed in conjunction with the Metropol Immobiliengruppe, it will feature roughly 165 modern rooms and an adjoined co-working space.

In addition, its placement at Ehrenfeldgürtel 125 connects it well to public transit, with an S-Bahn station right across from its front door.

For those wanting to get around the city, there is also a direct connection to the Cologne Exhibition Center, the main train station and the city’s Cologne/Bonn airport.

A focus on long-stay guests

For longer stays, the newest Ruby hotel will feature “RESIDENT Rooms,” which offer more space to guests, as well as a larger closet and a refrigerator.

Apart from these points, this won’t be like most long-term stay concepts though. Instead of a kitchenette in the room, the new property will offer access to a fully-equipped co-cooking and co-dining area.

“Our long-term guests value connecting to a local community of like-minded people. And as you know, new contacts are easier to create when cooking and eating together,” says Founder and CEO Michael Struck.

Ruby is calling this setup “Ruby Places.” On each floor of the new hotel, guests will find these small shared kitchens, along with free hot drinks, a vending machine loaded with snacks, and an ironing station that also boasts a washer and a dryer.

For stays longer than one week, there will be RESIDENT Rates offered with price reductions to be staggered based on the length of a stay.
