Designed by Kerry Hill Architects, The Ritz-Carlton Maldives, Fari Islands features 100 luxurious villas set above crystal-clear waters or along a pristine white-sand beach.

This new property combines stunning design with elevated amenities and a compelling connection to its location.

A milestone debut

The Ritz-Carlton Maldives, Fari Islands is now inviting guests to experience the circle of island life in an idyllic location that’s just a ten-minute seaplane ride, or 45-minute trip by boat, from Velana International Airport. The resort is part of the Fari Island archipelago and close to Fari Marina, which incorporates a beach club, boutiques and several attractive places to eat.

“We have long wanted to expand The Ritz-Carlton brand into this iconic luxury destination and are thrilled to evolve our global portfolio with this significant debut,” said Donna McNamara, vice president and global brand leader for The Ritz-Carlton. “From its thoughtful architecture to its culturally immersive programming, this resort represents the brand’s commitment to the innovative experiences that today’s luxury traveller seeks.”

Rajeev Menon, president, Asia Pacific (excluding China), Marriott International, added: “Following much anticipation surrounding its debut, we are thrilled to finally open The Ritz-Carlton Maldives, Fari Islands, and set a new standard for luxury hospitality in the Maldives, an internationally desired destination.”

“I look forward to welcoming guests to this special Maldivian archipelago, providing them with impeccable hospitality delivered by our ladies and gentlemen and enriching experiences that embrace the local culture and traditions,” said Mark Hehir, general manager of The Ritz-Carlton Maldives, Fari Islands. “I am certain that the exceptional and distinct guest experience we are creating here in the Maldives will leave our guests with lasting and meaningful memories.”

An immersion into the surroundings

For this project, Kerry Hill Architects took its cue from the natural surroundings; the swirling water and ocean breezes are incorporated into a design forming a circle to represent the flow of island life. The concept aims to be as respectful of its visual impact as it is inspired by the natural setting.

The resort’s 100 one- and two-bedroom overwater and beach villas come with living space that blurs the line between indoors and outdoors, and each features a sun deck with private infinity pool. Taking inspiration from the ancient customs of Maldivian royal courts, each room comes with an Aris Meeha island butler.

This accommodation is joined by seven distinct culinary venues spanning high-end dining, beachfront luxury and wellness.

Guests can dine at the contemporary Cantonese overwater space Summer Pavilion, Japanese open-air restaurant Iwau and southern Italian dining spot La Locanda. Meanwhile, Mediterranean food is served at the Beach Shack, and oysters and caviar come paired with cocktails at Eau Bar. Alternatively, it’s an eight-minute dhoni boat ride to Fari Marina, which is the location for two more establishments: Arabesque and the Tum Tum Asian food truck.

During their stay, guests can join immersive programmes including adventures with Jean-Michel Cousteau’s Ambassadors of the Environment; from cooking classes to bike safaris, these activities highlight the local culture and environment. In addition, the Ritz Kids programme brings together a total of 30 activities, and ocean enthusiasts are catered for at the Dive Butler International dive centre.

To unwind, guests can head to The Ritz-Carlton Spa, which offers treatments in partnership with sustainable and holistic wellness brand Bamford.
