Ritz-Carlton makes entree into Serbia

Marriott International has signed an agreement with Danube Riverside d.o.o. Beograd to introduce The Ritz-Carlton brand in Serbia.

Riverside revitalisation

Anticipated to welcome guests in 2027, The Ritz-Carlton, Belgrade will bring the legendary luxury brand to Serbia’s capital city. 

The 193-key Ritz-Carlton, Belgrade 193 will feature The Ritz-Carlton Club experience and two distinct dining venues. 

Plans for the property also include a range of facilities such as an indoor swimming pool, fitness centre and spa, along with more than 1,700 square meters of meetings and events space.

The Ritz-Carlton, Belgrade will be the centrepiece of a project that also includes residential and office towers, a conference centre, a marina, and a promenade. 

The hotel will be situated on the Nikola Tesla Boulevard, right on the Danube riverfront, close to government institutions and the business district. The location will also provide access to Stark Arena, Sava Congress Centre and Belgrade’s old town. 

Serbia makes big moves

“Serbia continues to grow as an important business and leisure destination, and the signing of The Ritz-Carlton, Belgrade reflects our commitment to expand our portfolio of brands and experiences in its progressive capital and the broader region,” says Sandeep Walia, Marriott’s Chief Operating Officer, Middle East & Luxury, Europe, Middle East & Africa. 

The new build property is planned to be a part of the site revitalisation of the former Hotel Jugoslavija, bringing this famous location back to life.

Ivan Bošnjak, Danube Riverside d.o.o. Beograd’s Director of Millennium Team and Representative, said the group was “honoured” to collaborate with Marriott International. 

“On the site of the former Hotel Jugoslavija, a modern complex will rise becoming a prestigious new destination in Belgrade designed for both our fellow citizens and tourists from around the world,” he said.  

“We believe this project will bring new energy to Belgrade and strengthen its position on the global map of luxury destinations.”

Marriott International’s portfolio in Serbia currently includes four properties: The St. Regis Belgrade, Sheraton Novi Sad, Courtyard by Marriott Belgrade City Center and Moxy Belgrade.
