New properties from Radisson Collection, Hyatt Regency and LXR Hotels & Resorts have made the cut in our round-up of the month’s most exciting hotel openings.
Each of these landmark schemes pairs ambitious design with luxury hospitality experiences informed by its surroundings.
Radisson Collection Hotel, Magdalena Plaza Sevilla
Emerging from a stylish conversion, this five-star Radisson Collection hotel is now hosting travellers in two buildings comprising 89 guestrooms, including five suites, with touches of bronze, glass and marble, soft blue furnishings and parquet floors. These rooms are joined by a fine-dining restaurant, rooftop swimming pool and terrace with lounge bar, as well as a solarium, gym and spa. The property is especially notable for being home to a gastronomic concept offering the innovative Spanish cuisine of Michelin-starred chef Aneko Atxa.
The project was developed by Millenium Hotels Real Estates, with Borgos Pieper leading the architectural design, and represents Radisson Collection’s first property in Spain. This newly opened hotel lies at the heart of Seville on a palm tree-lined pedestrian square close to the city’s museums, theatres and royal palaces, showcasing contemporary interiors inspired by the area’s history and urban life. Moreover, the impressive property runs entirely on renewable energy, achieving Spain’s first LEED Hospitality Gold Level.
Hyatt Regency Cairo West
This five-star newbuild hotel is located in the Pyramids Heights Business Park, offering easy access to landmarks like the Great Pyramids of Giza. Hyatt Regency Cairo West’s 250 guestrooms are joined by facilities for both business and leisure travellers. The property was developed by ALDAU Development with Simeon Halstead Associates behind its architectural and interior design, and Design Lab also contributing to the interiors.
Of the Hyatt Regency hotel’s keys, 26 are suites, and several are Spa Rooms encompassing hot tubs, saunas and massage tables. Room designs are inspired by Egyptian culture, while floor-to-ceiling windows afford views over the pyramids or the hotel’s pool and gardens. Among the amenities here are the Regency Club Lounge, eight dining and drinking outlets including Japanese-Peruvian fusion specialist Barranco, the two swimming pools’ Pool Bar and the rooftop City Lounge.
Roku Kyoto, LXR Hotels & Resorts
Hilton Worldwide’s LXR Hotels & Resorts brand has marked its debut in APAC with the opening of Roku Kyoto. Based on the brand’s approach to luxury hospitality, defined by individuality and an immersion into the locale, this property was developed in partnership with Tokyu Land Corporation and Tokyu Resorts & Stays Co. The hotel encompasses 114 guestrooms including the Roku and Peak Suites, Garden Deluxe rooms with private onsen and Poolside Deluxe rooms by the Roku Spa.
Intended to provide a one-of-a-kind stay, this new property lies within the 28.6-acre Shozan Resort Kyoto, home to idyllic Japanese gardens, historic architecture and authentic teahouses. All of this is situated beneath the Takagamine mountains of northern Kyoto and within walking distance of famous sights including the Kinkaku-ji ‘Golden Pavilion’. The property was designed by Blink Design Group, taking inspiration from the location’s origins as an artisan colony, fusing traditional Japanese craftsmanship with a modern aesthetic.
