After an extensive refurbishment and extension, Chenot Park Weggis is now welcoming guests seeking a more rejuvenating experience

June saw some semblance of normality return with lockdowns easing worldwide, and the TOPHOTELPROJECTS construction database shows plenty of new hotels opened too.

June is smack bang in the middle of the high season for tourism in many markets, and hotel groups have been pushing hard to launch new properties wherever possible to help them claw back some much-needed business. Here is our rundown of the month’s hottest openings.

Park Inn by Radisson Vilnius Airport Hotel & Business Center

Recently opened in Lithuania’s capital, this 120-key, 4-star newbuild hotel is located in the VNO Business and Retail Park, beside the city’s airport and just 6km from the city centre. Ideal for business travellers, the hotel is the latest in a string of Radisson-branded properties across the Baltic state.

Speaking when the property was first signed in early 2018, Elie Younes, executive vice president & chief development officer, The Rezidor Hotel Group, said: “These are exciting times for Park Inn by Radisson, our upper midscale brand which is gaining fantastic momentum across Europe. It is a perfect contrasting fit for the Baroque city of Vilnius. The area around Vilnius Airport is a fast-developing commercial zone, and Vilnius itself has been ranked one of Europe’s most promising cities for growing businesses that focus on innovation, technology and entrepreneurship.”

Holiday Inn Express Warsaw – Mokotow

This 167-key, 3-star hotel is a new building located between the city centre and the Warsaw Chopin Airport.

Spread over seven storeys, the new Holiday Inn Express Warsaw – Mokotow was designed by local architectural practice AGK, and is ideal for business and leisure travellers alike. Poland has seen both domestic and international tourism increase significantly in recent years, and this property operating under one of IHG’s most recognisable brands is sure to be a welcome addition to the capital.

Chenot Park Weggis

This hotly anticipated wellness retreat has finally opened in Switzerland. Overlooking the pristine landscapes of Lake Lucerne, Mount Rigi and Mount Pilatus, Chenot Park Weggis was recently extended by 45 keys, bringing the total room count to 92, and now boasts the most advanced spa, sleep and construction technologies around for a more relaxing and rejuvenating hospitality experience.

Davide Macullo Architects was behind the conception of the extended property. Its eponymous founder David Macullo said: “Chenot Palace Weggis is a vision that has become reality. It is a journey into the senses and for the senses. An organism that speaks directly to our most desired perceptions. Designed to put us at ease and allow us to enter into intimacy with our being, it embraces the philosophy of Henri Chenot which leads to the ideal of a healthy life, both physical and mental.”

Swiss-Belhotel Kuantan

This month, Swiss-Belhotel International welcomed its debut property in Malaysia, with the opening of the 366-key Swiss-Belhotel Kuantan.

The stunning waterfront hotel is a contemporary offering set against the backdrop of the traditional fishing village of Tanjung Lumpur, just 2km from the regional capital of Kuantan. Its opening marks a milestone in the development of the 200-acre Kuantan Waterfront Resort City, a mixed-use complex that will ultimately boast an extensive range of commercial, leisure, retail, entertainment and hospitality offerings.

Sheraton Shaoxing Shangyu

This 5-star luxury newbuild hotel offers guests a choice of 335 well-appointed rooms and suites in the Shangyu Economic Development Zone of Zhejiang Sheng, China.

Geared towards both business and leisure travellers, the property is the epitome of modern architecture, and resides in a pair of gleaming glass towers which offer spectacular views over the surrounding area and the Cao’e River. Plus, there is over 4,000 sq m of flexible meeting, conference and event space, and a range of onsite facilities for guests to take advantage of.
