Our pick of this month’s most exciting hotel launches around the world features new arrivals from Radisson Blu, Curio Collection by Hilton and St Regis.

From the Greek Islands and the Southeastern US to China’s Shandong province, these landmark openings pair a luxury hospitality experience with a strong regard for their immediate surroundings.

Radisson Blu Zaffron Resort, Santorini

Radisson Blu Zaffron Resort has opened on Santorini by the black-sand shores of Kamari. This five-star, 103-key property houses a collection of rooms, suites and split-level villas in a space distinguished by a minimalist aesthetic; it takes inspiration from the island’s architecture with a warm, earthy colour scheme that nods to the locally harvested saffron. The accommodation comes with balconies and terraces, while larger rooms, suites and villas also have private Jacuzzis or plunge pools.

Amenities within the resort include Italian fine-dining spot Zeffirino Ristorante, where the menus pay homage to the Zeffirino family, and the gastronomy of the Liguria and Emilia-Romagna regions. Guests can unwind by two large pools with sun loungers, get a bite to eat or a signature cocktail in the Pool Bar, and enjoy spa treatments in the Calliste Wellness facilities. The hotel, developed by Fais Group with architecture by Gavalas Architects, also houses a conference room for up to 80 delegates.

The Hamilton Alpharetta, Curio Collection by Hilton, Georgia

Alpharetta’s first upscale boutique hotel, The Hamilton Al, a Curio Collection by Hilton has opened in the heart of the city. Owned and developed by Mayfair Street Partners and managed by Hotel Equities, this scheme takes cues from the Western & Atlantic Railway for its decor, pairing vintage elements with modern design and technology.

The hotel’s 119 rooms and suites are joined by two restaurants highlighting southern French cuisine, Carrie’s Conservatory and Fulton House, along with the speakeasy-inspired Roaring Social, featuring eight bowling lanes. Archstudio7 led the exterior design, RBA Architecture served as the architect and Mayfair Street Partners worked on the interior design for this unique property, with Evergreen Construction acting as general contractor.

The St Regis Qingdao

St Regis has made its debut in Qingdao with the opening of a five-star hotel occupying the 58th to 78th floors of the 369 m Haitian Center, the tallest building in this fast-growing coastal city in China’s Shandong province. The well-located site places guests within an hour of Qingdao Liuting International Airport and adjacent to Fushan Bay, with views over the Yellow Sea. LTW Designworks led the interior design for this impressive property, which references the hotel brand’s heritage and the locale through details like a 74 m atrium art wall backing the grand staircase.

The St Regis Qingdao is home to 233 guestrooms, including 30 luxury suites, along with The Drawing Room for afternoon tea on the 59th floor, Yan Ting for Cantonese cuisine and local seafood, the Social all-day dining venue, the New York steakhouse-inspired Carvery and panoramic St Regis Bar. Wellness facilities here include the St Regis Spa, a fitness centre and indoor infinity pool, and event space spanning 2,000 sq m – including a 900 sq m ballroom.
