A trio of the biggest names in hospitality have expanded their footprint with exciting openings this month – we look back at our top three launches.

Impressive projects in the UAE, Italy and the Netherlands all make the cut in our round-up of April 2021’s best new hotel openings across the globe.

SLS Dubai

Accor expanded its SLS Hotels & Residences brand at the start of the month, with the launch of its first hotel in the Middle East. The seventh SLS hotel globally, SLS Dubai Hotel & Residences is the result of a partnership with World of Wonders Real Estate, which has successfully developed one of Dubai’s tallest buildings. The 75-storey structure sits within the Downtown district and offers 360-degree views taking in the city, Burj Khalifa and Dubai Creek.

In this striking property created in collaboration with architecture firm Aedas, travellers will now be hosted in 254 guestrooms designed by Paul Bishop. This accommodation joins 371 residential units, 321 hotel apartments, Ciel Spa and an array of public areas, all also designed by Bishop Design, including the 71st-floor Sky Lobby with grand S Bar, 75th-floor lounge and nightlife venue Privilege, restaurant Carna, female-run Italian dining spot Fi’Iia, café EllaMia and caviar bar 12 Chairs.

DoubleTree by Hilton Rome Monti

DoubleTree by Hilton’s new Rome property opened this April in Piazza dell’Esquilino following the renovation of an existing building. The new Hilton Worldwide property was created in partnership with the hotel’s owner Reale Immobili, with THDP undertaking the design. This hotel, targeted at both business and leisure travellers, places guests in the Rione Monti neighbourhood, which stretches from Termini Station to Piazza Vittorio.

The new DoubleTree by Hilton Rome Monti comprises 133 rooms, including eight suites, across seven floors, along with a bar and cafeteria with entrance from Piazza Esquilino, a restaurant serving reinterpretations of classic dishes and a rooftop bar with panoramic terrace. Additional facilities include a fitness centre and three modular meeting rooms. The contemporary design pairs the colours of Rome with natural outdoor elements and Italian vintage charm.

Radisson Hotel & Suites Amsterdam South

Another milestone for this month was the opening of the first Radisson serviced apartment hotel in Western Europe. The eighth operating property for Radisson Hotel Group in the Dutch city, Radisson Hotel & Suites Amsterdam South provides a home-away-from-home for families and long-stay guests amid the canals of a leafy neighbourhood with easy access to the city’s central business district.

The pet-friendly aparthotel encompasses 227 suites, across eight categories, from 21 to 106 sq m in size. All suites have an array of amenities including a fully equipped kitchen, and some come with a designer bathtub and private infrared sauna. During their stay, guests can make the most of the Keuken & Bar restaurant, the 24/7 Grab & Go market, a fitness studio, three modern meeting rooms and underground parking, as well as convenient services like bike rental.
