Rebranded St Regis property launches in Egypt
Boasting exquisite architecture and timeless design, The St Regis Almasa has started welcoming guests in Egypt’s New Administrative Capital.
The St Regis Almasa has opened its doors in Egypt’s New Administrative Capital, giving Marriott International’s luxury brand a prominent site in one of North Africa’s most sought-after destinations. We find out more.
A successful rebranding
Formerly known as the Almasa Hotel, the existing property has now been rebranded to become The St Regis Almasa. The scheme is located in the New Administrative Capital of Egypt, an up-and-coming urban centre slated to become the new administrative and financial hub of Egypt.
The property is only a short drive from Egypt’s ministerial district and the new arts and culture hub, which is home to the Grand Opera House, Egypt’s Capitals Museum and the Capital Library.
“We are delighted to bring our iconic St Regis brand to the New Administrative Capital together with the National Authority for Management & Investment,” said Guido De Wilde, chief operating officer, Middle East, Marriott International. “This opening is a significant milestone in our journey and underscores the tremendous trust and confidence our owners have in us and in the power of our luxury brands in the region.”
A look inside The St Regis Almasa
The St Regis Almasa offers 270 rooms, 90 suites, 60 apartments and 14 villas, all of which overlook the vast pool at the property’s centre and boast private patios or balconies. Meanwhile, a classic aesthetic and elegant colour palette help create an atmosphere of refined luxury throughout all public spaces and rooms.
The F&B offering spans several outlets, not least Italian venue La Sponda; and Cafe Royal, which serves up the signature St Regis afternoon tea. Leisure facilities include indoor and outdoor pools, an artificial beach, a fitness centre and a spa, complete with steam rooms and a hammam.
State-of-the-art events facilities
The property’s 42,000 sq ft convention centre will continue to host government conventions and events, as well as foreign leaders. Three ballrooms, bridal suites, six VIP lounges, The Summit Hall and Teatro Al Asema are also part of the convention centre.
General Sherif Salah El-Din, chairman of The National Authority for Management & Investment, said: “The National Authority for Management and Investment is excited to collaborate with Marriott International to bring the classic sophistication of the St Regis brand to the New Administrative Capital of Egypt. The St Regis Almasa will play a significant role in giving the tourism industry much-needed support and will become the new destination for luxury hospitality in Egypt, playing host to the country’s most-coveted events, conferences and summits.”
St Regis added that the property ‘is expected to encompass the hallmarks of the brand such as its rich traditions and rituals to bring to life a complete brand experience over the next few months’.
