Radisson Hotel Group continues to build on its considerable momentum across the African continent, where it is leading the growth of branded hotel inventory in key cities.
Underlining that commitment, the group has signed two new properties to launch Radisson into the Democratic Republic of Congo. The first of these to open will be the Radisson Blu hotel in Kinshasa, in late 2026. The 110 room property will include all the features of a full service hotel, including wellness facilities, and an outdoor swimming pool, and will be on the city’s Boulevard Colonel Tshatshi in the Gombe district.
Bringing the brand to new cities
The following year, Radisson Hotel Lubumbashi will open in the DRC’s second largest city. With 97 rooms, the hotel will feature a rooftop bar and grill offering views across the city. The hotel will sit close to Kipopo Lake, and will be just 12 kilometres from Luano international airport.
A further signing is in Cameroon, where the Radisson Blu hotel and apartments is expected to be complete and ready for opening in Yaounde in late 2026. The 150 room property will include flexible accommodation and a range of meeting and events spaces.
According to a recent report on the African hospitality marketplace, produced by W Hospitality, in 2024 Radisson achieved the largest number of hotel openings across the continent. “Over the last 15 months, we achieved remarkable growth across Africa,” said Radisson’s chief development officer, Elie Younes. “We expanded into new markets like Tanzania, Conakry, and the Democratic Republic of Congo, further cementing our position on the continent.”
Recent openings on the continent include the Radisson Blu hotel in Conakry, Guinea, a project that opened just three months after signing. With 282 rooms, the property overlooks the beach, promising great ocean views for guests.
Radisson has also added a hotel in Mauritius. The 234 room Crystals Resort Belle Mare has joined the Radisson Individuals collection brand, providing a quick conversion that will deliver more international visitors to the resort.
A target for growth to 2030
The group has set ambitious growth targets for key markets in Africa. It aims to build its presence in Morocco to 30 hotels by 2030, and wants to grow to 25 hotels in South Africa, doubling its present scale in the country. Nigeria is another country market where effort is being made to add further hotels in key destinations.
Pipeline projects in these countries include the Radisson Hotel Middelburg, a 150 room new build development in South Africa expected to open in the first quarter of 2026. At around the same time, the Radisson Hotel Abuja Gudu will launch, adding 100 rooms to Radisson’s inventory in Nigeria. It will be followed by the opening of a second property in the region, Radisson Collection Hotel & Conference Center Abuja.
