Radisson RED’s first project is earmarked for 2020 in London Greenwich.
The Radisson Hotel Group recently announced the signing of the Radisson RED London Greenwich in the UK.
The Radisson Hotel Group is about to have a moment in London.
What does that mean exactly? The company has just announced the signing of the Radisson RED London Greenwich, which is, obviously, located in London.
What is less obvious, is that this also marks Radisson’s first RED property in the city, and it’s set right next to the O2 Arena, the world’s busiest events and concert venue.
Elie Younes, Executive Vice President & Chief Development Officer, Radisson Hotel Group, said, “Radisson RED is for those who wish to stand out of the crowd and it now lands in London. Opening in 2020, it perfectly blends business and play around the O2 Arena. A sincere appreciation goes to our partners for their trust in our people and our brands.”
This new deal is a result of the agreement with Nine Hotel Group.
Radisson’s U.K. footprint expands
While this new hotel may be Radisson’s first Radisson RED property in London, it is not the company’s first within the United Kingdom itself.
In fact, this new upscale, lifestyle, select-service hotel in England’s capital joins two other landmark Radisson RED Hotels in Glasgow and Liverpool.
Vivek Chadha, Owner of Nine Hotel Group, said, “We’re thrilled to have signed the agreement to bring a Radisson RED hotel to this side of London. Being so close to the multi-purpose O2 Arena is hugely exciting as I believe it’s the number one indoor music arena in the world and hosts the best global talent. Our hotel will be a representation of the culture and talent the arena attracts.”
Alongside 70 rooms boasting the unique Radisson RED design, the hotel will offer a bistro, bar, and a gym. It is slated to open for guests in 2020.
London’s booming hotel market
Radisson has wisely recognized that London is home to one of Europe’s most robust and dynamic hospitality markets.
A wave of new hotel openings has taken place in the city in recent years and it’s easy to understand why.
London, and Greenwich in particular, has a lot to offer visitors. It’s home to the iconic O2 Arena, which has hosted a wide range of giant names, from musicians like Elton Johns to athletes like Roger Federer.
In addition, the hotel will also put guests within easy reach of museums, the famous Prime Meridian, the legendary Cutty Sark and the cable car offering stunning views over the Thames, Canary Wharf and the City of London itself.
According to the TOPHOTELCONSTRUCTION online database, 192 hotel projects are currently in Radisson’s pipeline:
