Radisson Hotel Group has opened its first Radisson Collection property on the African continent with the launch of a 200-room property in Mali’s capital.

This attractive new Bamako hotel provides a convenient place for guests to stay in Mali’s metropolis. We take a closer look.

Radisson Collection’s entry to Africa

Radisson Collection Hotel, Bamako lies within one of the city’s most sought-after neighbourhoods, AC1 2000, just 20 minutes from Modibo Keita International Airport and close to several corporate headquarters, embassies and the government precinct. Appealing to leisure as well as business travellers, the property provides easy access to various museums and cultural sites.

“We are delighted to open the doors of our first Radisson Collection hotel in Africa, in the heart of Bamako,” said Tim Cordon, senior area vice president of the Middle East and Africa for Radisson Hotel Group. “Radisson Collection represents a portfolio of unique luxury properties with distinct identities, bespoke design and true authenticity, which is evident in the Radisson Collection Hotel, Bamako. In addition to the Radisson Collection hotels already under development in Lagos, Cairo and Abuja, we believe the brand has strong further potential across the continent, as we continue to reinforce our presence in every key market.”

“My passionate team and I are honoured to be introducing this exceptional brand and hotel to our guests and to Africa,” added Fleury Courtin, general manager of Radisson Collection Hotel, Bamako. “We are bringing the authenticity of Bamako to every guest from our dining options and views to our hospitality.”

Mixing business with leisure in Bamako

Of the hotel’s 200 guest rooms, 32 are suites and three are accessible rooms. The accommodation on offer boasts views over hillsides dotted with mango-tree plantations and the Niger River, as well as the onsite pool.

The hotel also features four restaurants and bars: City Grill for European and West African flavours, casual grab-and-go G&G Cafe, Oasis Pool Bar for poolside snacks and drinks, and Legends Sports Bar for relaxing while watching live sport.

Its leisure and business facilities include a pool, a 24-hour fitness centre, 11 meeting rooms and more than 1,100 sq m of event space equipped with AV technology. The Grand Ballroom, meanwhile, is intended to provide an ideal setting for conferences and celebratory events for up to 500 attendees.

While staying here, guests can seek out nearby landmarks such as the Monument of Independence and Great Mosque of Bamako, and visit attractions like Bamako National Park and the National Zoo of Mali.
