New Waldorf Astoria property will take pride of place in Kuwait’s The Avenues district.

A new retail, entertainment and hospitality neighbourhood in Kuwait City will welcome the Waldorf Astoria Hotel Kuwait at the beginning of 2021. We take a look inside this exciting hotel project.

Waldorf Astoria sets up shop in Kuwait

Kuwait City is set to become the home of a new Waldorf Astoria property. Hilton’s Kuwaiti instalment of its iconic luxury brand will welcome the public in 2021, and the new-build, 200-guestroom, 5-star hotel is currently under construction.

Boasting 200 rooms in a prime location along the city’s Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan Road, the Waldorf Astoria Hotel Kuwait will form part of The Avenues, a mixed-use development which will also house the Hilton Garden Inn Kuwait hotel, which is being built as part of the fourth phase of expansion on the site. The Waldorf hotel will appeal to guests in the city for business or pleasure, given its ample meeting and conference facilities, as well as its proximity to the vast array of activities, retail opportunities and entertainment amenities contained within The Avenues mall.

Calming by design

The interior design of the Waldorf Astoria Hotel Kuwait has been undertaken by LW Design, an interior design and architecture firm with offices in Dubai, Hong Kong, São Paulo and Riyadh, but working internationally across a range of projects. Their approach to the design of the interiors was to channel the opulence of the Waldorf Astoria brand while at the same time crafting elegant, calming and tranquil spaces for guests to enjoy.

The designers have chosen a neutral palette which favours shades of grey, but these tones are accented with flashes of gold which are echoed in the decadent fixtures and fittings such as lampshades and screens that can be found in the guest rooms. Guests can be pampered in the state of the art spa, work out in the fitness and wellness centre or relax in the rooftop swimming pool.

CallisonRTKL produced the architectural design of the building with the support of Pace. Pace delivered all the phases of The Avenues with leading global design firms including Gensler. This also includes the Hilton Garden Inn.

Waldorf Astoria Hotels & Resorts’ properties reflect the culture and history of their extraordinary locations.
