Project of the Week: The St Regis Marrakech Resort

An exclusive enclave backed by the majesty of the Atlas Mountains, The St Regis Marrakech Resort is a worthy Project of the Week.

An exclusive enclave backed by the majesty of the Atlas Mountains, The St Regis Marrakech Resort is a worthy recipient of our Project of the Week title.

This sprawling five-star resort will form part of a prestigious 750,000 sq m development in Marrakech. It’s expected that the highly anticipated St Regis property will finally make its debut in 2024.

An ambitious development in Morocco

The St Regis Marrakech Resort will be a key component of a wider mixed-use development comprising a five-star hospitality offering, an 18-hole golf course and luxury residential properties including golf-branded villas and apartments. In September 2019, SSH announced that it had been appointed lead design consultant for the scheme; the concept design was produced in collaboration with Woods Bagot.

Phase one of this project, the high-end Assoufid Golf Course, was completed several years ago and has since won many awards. Now the second phase will see the creation of hospitality, retail, residences and landscaping elements.

Where luxury meets the Atlas Mountains

The proposed St Regis resort will have 60 guest rooms and 20 villas, all with views of the Atlas Mountains, along with six distinct dining experiences including two signature restaurants and the St Regis Bar, which is inspired by the King Cole Bar at the brand’s flagship New York hotel.

Other facilities here will include a spa, swimming pool and state-of-the-art fitness centre, as well as a ballroom for events and a conference centre. The resort will be joined by branded residential villas, set against a backdrop of one of the world’s most breathtaking natural wonders, the Atlas Mountains. This lavish property of contemporary terracotta-coloured buildings set amid pools, palm trees and gardens will further expand Marriott International’s luxury brand portfolio in Morocco.

The resort is owned by Assoufid Properties Development and developed by United Real Estate Company, part of the Kuwait Projects Company group of companies. Last but certainly not least, its staggering interiors were designed by HBA London.
