Project of the Week: The Peninsula Istanbul
by Lauren Jade Hill | 25 Apr 2022 | Project of the Week, Projects
The forthcoming Peninsula Istanbul converting historic buildings along the Bosphorus garners our latest Project of the Week title.
Planned for early 2023 debut, The Peninsula Istanbul will anchor a new waterfront revitalisation project called Galataport.
A historic conversion
On opening in the first quarter of 2023, The five-star Peninsula Istanbul will invite guests into the reimagined space of a converted historic site at the Salipazari Cruise Port.
The Peninsula Hotels group is working in partnership with The Hongkong and Shanghai Hotels and Dogus Group to realise this landmark development.
Tanju Ozelgin Architects and Özer + Tulgan Architects are behind the site’s classical inspired architectural design, with Özer + Tulgan Architects also designing the interiors and Kaldewei supplying the bathroom amenities.
A new lifestyle destination
The luxury property will be home to 177 guest rooms and suites, including The Peninsula Suite, along with an array of lifestyle amenities.
The accommodation here will be joined by several restaurants serving both local and international cuisine, indoor and outdoor pools, The Peninsula Spa housing hammam steam baths, a ballroom with views of the Bosphorus and a waterfront garden.
The overall development it’s a part of will also encompass a promenade, museums and art galleries, restaurants, boutiques and a port for cruise ships.
From this location, guests will be within walking distance of landmarks including Galata Tower, Galata Bridge and the Sultanahmet District.
Many TOPHOTELNEWS articles draw on exclusive information from the TOPHOTELPROJECTS construction database. This subscription-based product includes details of thousands of hotel projects around the world, along with the key decision-makers behind them. Please note, our data may differ from records held by other organisations. Generally, the database focuses on four- and five-star schemes of significant scale; tracks projects in either the vision, pre-planning, planning, under-construction, pre-opening or newly opened phase; and covers newbuilds, extensions, refurbishments and conversions.
