One of the Nordic region’s most important hotel groups is looking forward to a milestone property in the form of Scandic Spectrum in Copenhagen, the Scandic Hotels Group biggest hotel to date. We find out more about this exciting venture.

A new landmark in Scandic Spectrum

Scandic Hotels Group, a stalwart of Scandinavia’s hospitality scene, is setting itself up for glory with the opening of its largest property so far in Copenhagen in 2021. This 632-key property will be a landmark opening for Scandic, which will occupy a prime site within the centre of the city, located close to some of the Danish capital’s most attractive sights, including the Tivoli Gardens.

Even Frydenberg, President & CEO Scandic Hotels Group, spoke of the project, saying, “Copenhagen is an important region for us, and we have an exciting pipeline of hotels that will further strengthen our position in the market. Scandic Spectrum will be a landmark in Copenhagen, adapted for both business and leisure travelers. There is a high demand for hotels in Copenhagen and we’re extremely happy to have access to a big new hotel in such an attractive location.”

Contemporary, sustainable, Scandic

Scandic has released some renders to tease potential guests, and they show a gleaming volume encased with glass fronting onto a landscaped plaza. The Danes are known for their design skills and so perhaps it’s no wonder that this milestone Scandic project has the Nordic hospitality industry waiting with bated breath to see how it will turn out. The property will take full advantage of its prestigious site, and offer guests a unique experience that is based on sustainability and contemporary travel, with one of the highlights of the hotel being its rooftop terrace, which provides panoramic views out towards the city and harbour beyond. The hotel will also boast an entire floor of restaurants, bars and entertainment facilities, aiming to draw the public into the building.

“It is with great enthusiasm that we take on the task of building a modern, sustainable and environmentally friendly hotel in cooperation with Scandic. Scandic is an ideal partner for us, which, with its leading position in the Nordic region, provides us with a perfect starting point for creating a hotel with an identity that matches the Nordic region as well as Copenhagen,” says Morten Bergesen of HM 2 A / S, the partner company with Scandic in this venture.
