Six Senses Alpine residences in Austria capture the spirit of the mountains.

“Alpine living redefined” is the prospect on offer at luxury hotel brand Six Senses’ newest property in the Austrian Alps.

This 5-star resort is currently under construction and due to open late next year. We find out more.

Luxurious living in the Austrian Alps

Alpine adventure has always been one of the more exclusive ways to vacation, and the Austrian Alps are now on course to offer one of the most prestigious holiday destinations in the region with a new chalet development under the renowned Six Senses hotel group.

The Six Senses Kitzbuehel Alps will be situated in the Central Eastern Alps, in a geographic location that lends itself to skiing, hiking and walking. This property will be composed of 77-key hotel, 45 exclusive residences available for private purchase, as well as 13 chalets, all of which form a luxury ski-in-ski-out resort surrounded by idyllic mountainous scenery.

“Capturing the very essence of Alpine living”, according to the property’s website, the Six Senses Kitzbeuhel Alps will epitomise the twinned activities of adventure and indulgence that ski resorts are known for.

Austrian Alpine design

The interiors of the complex will be overseen by expert designer Martin Brudnizki, who has crafted a calming and comfortable environment which can best be described as a modern interpretation of traditional Austrian design.

Warm natural finishes such as wood and stone are combined with more textured surfaces like rough-hewn exposed timber beams to create a rugged yet intimate palette of materials, much like those found in the mountains themselves.

A three-level spa will cater to those looking to rest and relax after a long day on the slopes, and the property’s restaurant will offer local, seasonal produce harvested from nearby farms, promoting sustainable gastronomy and giving back to the community.

Price tags and controversy

These Six Senses residences will definitely appeal to those who are not counting the pennies. Anyone who wishes to buy one of the 45 private condominiums will part with the equivalent of €1.5m, and potential chalet owners will have to cough up €5.5m to get their hands on one, but as an added incentive, they will get a free E-powered Porsche Taycan thrown in.

The project has not been without controversy, as local conservationists say that its development will threaten the nearby Wasenmoos high moor. These bogs have been built up over 10,000 years, and development risks draining them, which threatens their survival.
