Colombo’s “city within a city” set to become the heart of modern Sri Lanka

Luxury new build project in a mixed-use development in Sri Lanka’s capital Colombo will be a hive of activity, entertainment and hospitality. The Cinnamon Life development will bring renewed attention to a city and country that is already a hotbed of investment and tourism. We find out more about this exciting project.

Colombo waits with bated breath

The highly anticipated Cinnamon Life project in the Sri Lankan capital of Colombo is nearing completion before its projected opening in the second quarter of 2021. This 5-star project will boast 800 rooms in one of the most up and coming cities in South Asia. Nicknamed “Colombo’s Life Capital”, the Cinnamon Life development is a mixed-use complex which will also house entertainment facilities, 427 private apartments, 30 floors of commercial office space and five floors of retail. Sri Lanks is fast becoming one of the most coveted destinations on earth, so it’s no wonder that hoteliers and developers are signalling out Colombo as a place ripe for investment.

Roshanie Jayasundera-Moraes, Chief Marketing Officer Cinnamon Life spoke about the project, saying, “The largest private sector investment of $850m will provide an excellent investment opportunity for anyone looking for a prime real estate investment. This culinary and entertainment hub will continue to bring to you a series of world class events giving you a glimpse of what to expect at Colombo’s life capital which will be the ultimate lifestyle hub locally as well as globally. We encourage everyone to stay tuned as we bring to you many more exciting initiatives.”

Thrilling design

This expansive complex is taking form on Colombo’s Slave Island, the area around the city’s natural harbour. Situated on and overlooking a bend in the docklands’ waterway, the architecture of this development is one of the most exciting things about it. A collection of glazed towers surround a sculptural fin of accommodation, out of which jutt a series of cantilevered and supported boxes that sail over a built up plinth below. The development will redefine Colombo’s skyline, and its 10 acres of integrated spaces will attract visitors from far and wide.

“Cinnamon Life, following its opening it will be the hub of world-class entertainment,” said CEO Cinnamon Life Mall Dileep Mudadeniya. “It is set to bring to reality the lifestyle, culinary and entertainment aspects to Colombo’s social life that was previously beyond our reach. Thus, the globally reputed initiations such as The Sound of Music, the Colombo Music Festival and Mamma Mia! is a step towards realising one of our most aspiring dreams as a star-class Sri Lankan hospitality chain.”

Cinnamon Life is all about living life just the way you want – comfortable and convenient with a touch of the extraordinaire.
