Project of the Week: Six Senses La Sagesse

by | 04 Jul 2022 | Project of the Week, Projects

Six Senses’ forthcoming resort in Grenada garners our Project of the Week title for its place in the master-planned La Sagresse development.

The Six Senses resort will be joined by another five-star property, residential villas and an array of facilities. On opening, the resort will become Six Senses’ first Caribbean property.

A new lifestyle destination

Expected to reach completion in the first quarter of 2023, Six Senses La Sagesse will be the first of two luxury hotels to open in the upcoming La Sagresse development, which Range Developments entered into an agreement with the Government of Grenada to develop.

Six Senses is working with the development company to build an exciting new Six Senses resort within this area, which is just 15 minutes from Grenada’s airport and known for its natural beauty and two idyllic beaches.

This Six Senses property will be set on a promontory featuring these two beaches and a lake. One of this 38-acre site’s beaches was named one of the top ten beaches in the Caribbean by The Sunday Times.

Simeon Halstead is responsible for the resort’s architectural design and Bleu Design Consultants is designing the interiors. Sustainability is integral in both the construction and operation of this property, with initiatives including mangrove enhancement and restoration.

Six Senses La Sagesse will comprise 56 guest rooms, seven one-bedroom villas and five two-bedroom villas, all built no higher than a palm tree and taking design inspiration from the traditional local architecture.

A reflection of the locale

In this enclave designed to mimic a Caribbean village along the lakefront promenade and beach, garden walkways will be made out of repurposed nutmeg shells and cocoa skins.

These walkways will lead guests between the accommodation, and accompanying residences available for purchase, along with amenities including the Experience Centre, Boutique, Alchemy Bar and Library.

Guests will be able to dine at the Great House featuring a series of rooms including the Conservatory, Bakery, Gallery and Beach Dining room, as well as in the private dining room and Raw Bar with display kitchen.

The Signature restaurant will offer Creole-inspired dishes including plant based and foraged menus and there are a number of destination dining options. For drinks, guests will then be able to try a rum-making workshop at the Sand Bar, order a cocktail at the swim-up bar or come up with botanical bases at the Fermentation Lab.

Positioned overlooking a lagoon, Six Senses Spa at La Sagesse is designed in the style of a traditional fishing village with in-house experts and visiting practitioners then integrating local knowledge and age-old local traditions in the wellness programming.

During their stay, guests will be able to make the most of the resort’s teen’s lounge and children’s play centre, venture along the site’s outdoor fitness trails and use its jungle gym. Excursions from here are to include trips to Molinere Underwater Sculpture Park and Grand Etang National Park.
