A huge Gensler-designed hotel scheme that’ll overlook the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Georgia’s state capital has won our latest Project of the Week title.
The much-anticipated Signia by Hilton Atlanta development is expected to open in early 2024.
A hub for meetings and events
Having broken ground at Georgia World Congress Center in May 2021, construction is now underway on the first newbuild hotel for the Signia by Hilton brand. Boston-based Drew Company is leading this development, with Gensler assigned as the architect and a joint venture between Skanska and SG Contracting taking on the role of general contractor.
The Signia by Hilton brand focuses on hosting events and meetings, while also providing a luxury hotel experience.
On completion, this Georgia World Congress Center Authority-owned property will be managed by Hilton Management Services. It’ll overlook the Mercedes-Benz Stadium sports and entertainment complex, and be connected to the Congress Center.
A locally inspired experience
Overall, the hotel will comprise 75,000 sq ft of meeting space, along with a signature restaurant, destination bar and premium wellness facilities.
The hotel will house 975 modern guestrooms with contemporary interiors, details that take inspiration from Atlanta and cutting-edge technology, such as digital keys allowing travellers to check in, enter their room and control room settings via their smartphone. From the impressive lobby, visitors will be able to move onto a sophisticated destination bar, offering small plates and on-trend cocktails, or a signature chef-driven restaurant, as well as an upscale grab-and-go market.
Signia by Hilton Atlanta’s wellness space will comprise a fitness centre with the latest innovations and space for group activities and classes. Significantly, the meeting space here promises to cater for gatherings of all sizes, with contemporary and comfortable settings that integrate advanced technology to encourage collaboration and boost productivity.
