We take a look inside one of the most highly anticipated projects in the Dutch city of Amsterdam.

Amsterdam awaits its most important business and conference hotel, the foundation stone of which was laid at a recent ceremonial event.

The Maritim Hotel Amsterdam will transform the city’s skyline upon completion in 2022. We find out more.

Maritim Group comes to Amsterdam

Germany’s Maritim Hotels is planting its flag firmly in Dutch soil, with the groundbreaking event held in Amsterdam for the laying of the first stone of the Maritim Hotel Amsterdam, soon to be the German hotel group’s flagship property.

Located on the Badhuiskade docklands next to the city’s iconic EYE Film Institute and A’DAM Tower, the Maritim Hotel Amsterdam will be housed in one of two towers, the other of which will consist of apartments.

This industrial neighbourhood is a safe bet for the German hotel group, as it is becoming ever more popular with visitors and businesspeople. “This location has many development opportunities, is centrally located, modern and offers excellent infrastructure,” says Dr Monika Gommolla, Chairman of the Supervisory Board and owner of the Maritim Hotelgesellschaft.

Maritim at the centre of European corporate hospitality

This 579-key hotel is slated for completion in the first quarter of 2022. Once it is finished, it will hold the title of being Europe’s biggest conference hotel. The neighbourhood in which it is being built is currently also undergoing major developmental changes and aims to position itself as the “new heart of Amsterdam”.

The hotel will boast ample meeting, conference and events facilities and will be able to accommodate around 5,000 corporate guests across its business amenities. Spread over 34 floors that reach 110m in height, the building will be the third tallest in Amsterdam, and its imposing towers will redefine the skyline.

“We are very happy about this highly attractive location for our new Maritim Hotel Amsterdam,” said Gommolla. “We see enormous potential in Amsterdam, especially for the congress business. Maritim has almost 50 years of experience in this area.”
