Taking over a heritage building within the Ringstrasse, Mandarin Oriental Vienna earns our latest Project of the Week title.

This restored property distinguished by its heritage design details will be home to luxury courtyard-facing rooms and shared spaces including a restaurant, bar and expansive spa.

Transformation of a landmark

Mandarin Oriental International is now working in partnership with UBM Development and Brisen Development GmbH to transform a heritage building that once served as the city’s commercial law court into a luxury hotel with branded residences.

Currently under construction, the property is expected to open early 2023. HNP Architects and Loebell Architects & Partner are responsible for the site’s architectural design and Goddard Littlefair is designing the interiors, with preservation of original design elements throughout.

With this site’s location on a peaceful street of District One, Mandarin Oriental Vienna will place guests within the Ringstrasse and close to attractions including St. Stephen’s Cathedral, the Imperial Palace and Vienna State Opera.

A luxury lifestyle experience

On opening, the hotel will accommodate guests in 151 guest rooms and suites, which are to surround the property’s central courtyard.

This luxury accommodation will be joined by an array of lavish amenities including a restaurant, bar and range of adaptable meeting and banqueting space.

Additional shared spaces here will then include an outdoor garden and the signature Spa at Mandarin Oriental housing a number of treatment rooms along with a swimming pool and fitness centre.

In addition to the hotel’s accommodation and public spaces, the overall project also comprises 17 Mandarin Oriental Residences. Located on the top two floors, these residences will come with private access to the roof.
