A US$550 million property that’s currently being built out in the Lone Star State – one of North America’s largest active developments – has earned our Project of the Week title.

The Texan city of Arlington is eagerly awaiting the debut of a huge new hotel.

An impressive undertaking

In October 2021, Loews Hotels & Co, a wholly owned subsidiary of Loews Corporation, broke ground on the US$550 million Loews Arlington Hotel and Convention Center, which forms part of phase two of the development of Arlington Entertainment District.

Upon completion in early 2024, this will be the company’s second hotel in Arlington, Texas. As well as owning and developing the property, Loews Hotels & Co will lead its operations.

The development is being financed by Loews Hotels & Co capital and a $300 million loan from MetLife Investment Management.

Attracting business and leisure customers

The new hotel will accommodate guests between Globe Life Field and AT&T Stadium, and across from the 300-room Live! by Loews property, which will be accessible via a skybridge. Live! by Loews is a joint venture between Loews Hotels & Co, the Texas Rangers and The Cordish Companies.

Bringing Arlington Entertainment District to another level, Loews Arlington Hotel and Convention Center aims to contribute to Arlington’s status as one of the preeminent family, sports and entertainment destinations in the US.

Alongside its 888 guestrooms and suites, Loews Arlington Hotel and Convention Center will comprise 200,000 sq ft of indoor meeting space and 66,000 sq ft of outdoor event space. The hotel’s five F&B outlets will include an indoor / outdoor restaurant, featuring two wood-fired pizza ovens and homemade pasta dishes, and a third-party dining establishment from a well-known restaurateur.

The guest experience will be further enhanced by the inclusion of a resort-style beach club with two pools, a man-made beach, cabanas, firepits and a waterslide. There’ll also be a 1,550-space garage for parking.

The project is being built by JE Dunn Construction with help from Con-Real, while HKS – Dallas is leading the architectural design and Looney & Associates is working on the interiors.
