The Little National Hotel is scheduled to open in the up-and-coming Australian city of Adelaide in 2025. Read on to find out why the hotel made the cut for Top Hotel News’ Project of the Week.

All eyes on Adelaide

Australia’s award-winning Little National Hotel chain will branch out past the country’s east coast for the first time, venturing down to Adelaide.

This burgeoning food and wine destination in Australia’s south has become a hotspot for new hotel developments in recent years and is fast becoming one to watch in Oceania.

The South Australian outpost will be the fourth in the Little National family. DOMA Director of Hotels, Patrick Lonergan, noted the group had secured the “perfect site” for the hotel.

“We are so excited about Little National Adelaide,” Mr Lonergan said.

“We don’t take finding the perfect site for a Little National Hotel lightly. It takes months, if not years to secure just the right spot.

“There are no doubts that we have found that location in Adelaide.”

The hotel is located at 100 North Terrace, a prime location perched at the north end of Adelaide’s CBD. North Terrace is just strides away from Adelaide Parklands, the city’s famous green belt.

Other nearby hotspots include Adelaide Convention Centre, Adelaide Oval, and all the food and beverage facilities of the Leigh and Peel laneways.

Thoughtful design

The Bates Smart designed hotel occupies the entirety of a 23-storey structure, with 18 levels dedicated squarely to hotel accommodation. This will include 140 standard Little National Hotel Rooms, 26 ‘Big’ rooms and 48 one- and two-bedroom suites.

The building is crowned by a two-storey private lounge and public bar, both with 360-degree panoramic views of the ocean, riverfront parkland and the Adelaide Hills.

Little National Adelaide will include a 250sqm commercial grade gym facility fitted with Technogym equipment and a Little National Hotel Lounge.

In a first for the brand, the rooftop bar will be open to the public with a dedicated lift and meeting rooms will also be provided on the first floor.

Little National was established by the Australian-based DOMA Group. Since its first opening in 2020, Little National has made a name for itself as a provider of affordable luxury accommodation in prime locales.

“The original idea really was, and to a large extent still is, unique to the Australian market when it was conceived,” Mr Lonergan said.

“A key aspect of the Little National concept is to encourage people to get out and enjoy the amenity surrounding them. This means walkability is key. Each property needs to be close to business centres, restaurants, cafes and recreational spaces.

Construction of Little National Adelaide commenced in late 2022, with expected completion in 2025.
