A luxurious Dusit International-managed resort that will offer guests a relaxing outdoor hot-springs experience in China’s Yunnan Province is our latest Project of the Week.

The city of Tengchong is already home to breath-taking landscapes and natural thermal springs, but soon it will also welcome a spectacular resort destination. We find out more about this exciting hospitality project.

Bringing Thai spa and hospitality expertise to China

In late 2018, Thai hotel and property development company Dusit International signed a management agreement with Tengchong Zongheng Volcano Tourism Development Co to manage the Dusit Devarana Hot Springs Resort Tengchong, Yunnan.

Speaking at the time, Lim Boon Kwee, chief operating officer, Dusit International, said: “We are delighted and honoured to bring our unique brand of Thai-inspired, gracious hospitality to this magnificent area. Dusit Devarana represents the pinnacle of our brand offerings, providing a truly personalised experience for those who seek a balance of tranquillity, convenience and excellence. We look forward to delivering this and more at this stunning new resort.”

Zhang Fan, chairman, Tengchong Zongheng Volcano Tourism Development Co, added: “Following our mission to promote tourism in the Yunnan region, we are very happy to partner with Dusit for this special project. The company’s vision to uniquely deliver gracious hospitality to the world ensures it always has a positive local impact.”

“We are confident that, under Dusit’s management, Dusit Devarana Hot Springs Resort Tengchong, Yunnan will become a must-visit destination, attracting even more tourists to discover this fascinating area to the benefit of the local community.”

A new oasis for wellness

The resort has been designed to appeal to discerning leisure travellers seeking a distinctive, tranquil retreat amongst nature. 150 elegantly furnished villas and rooms will welcome guests and offer a relaxing abode in this picturesque location.

Each villa will feature its own pool fed by the local hot springs. From there, guests will be able to enjoy views of the stunning volcanic landscape, while soaking in the thermal water.

Outdoor hot springs and a variety of therapeutic, aromatic, splash and foot reflexology pools will form a key part of the property’s offering. The vast wellness and spa area will also offer many treatments leveraging the thermal spring’s healing power, alongside signature Thai-inspired massage therapies.

The hotel will be only a ten-minute drive from downtown Tengchong and its many historic sites, and 30 minutes’ away from Tengchong Tuofeng Airport.

The project is scheduled to launch in Q1 2021.

Founded in 1948, Bangkok-headquartered hospitality group Dusit International is able to draw on decades of experience in the hotel sector.
