Contemporary design and island life will come together at Capella Hotel Group’s forthcoming resort in the Maldives, which is being brought to life by a high-powered team that includes Kengo Kuma & Associates and André Fu Studio.

The highly anticipated design-led resort plans to begin welcoming guests from end of 2021. We find out what’s in store.

A new design destination

In all of its enticing locations, Capella Hotel Group aims to combine the work of world-class architects and interior designers with an experience fusing the nature, history and cultural identity of the surrounding area. Capella Maldives is no exception.

Here, architectural firm Kengo Kuma & Associates and interior design specialist André Fu Studio have shaped the scheme to achieve a synergy between the contemporary elements of the project and Maldivian island life. Each of the resort’s 57 land and overwater villas and mansions are designed to immerse visitors in the beauty of the lagoon, with private infinity pools and panoramic views of the Indian Ocean.

Elevated island life

Guests will be able to dine at the signature open-front dining destination Keveli, an American steakhouse with Californian wines and Michelin-starred Omakase Bar. Additional al fresco bar and dining options will range from sunset drinks to private dining.

The resort will also be home to the award-winning Auriga Spa & Wellness. This wellness space promises to encompass a fitness centre, six treatment rooms (including one with a flotation tank) and a VIP spa suite with hydrotherapy tub and relaxation area with adjacent infrared sauna.

Capella Maldives is part of the one-of-a-kind Fari Islands development, which brings together four individual islands accommodating Capella Maldives, Ritz-Carlton Maldives, Patina Maldives and the Fari Campus. As a whole, this destination acts as an oasis for socially conscious travellers, with attention paid to communal experiences, creation of art and preservation of the environment.
